Tortillas are corn, less lard than a California or North Texas carne asada taco. It’s probably healthier this way I guess but if you’re having tacos, healthy isn’t the first word that comes to mind. Overall it satisfied my taco fix!
The chips are good! They’re served with a large helping of sharp cheese and a dollop of blended guacamole. Best eaten while hot!
I visited Taco King because its name reminded me of King Taco, a tasty food chain found in So Cal. I grew up in Long Beach and lived near Pomona, California for decades and I’ve been fortunate enough to appreciate an Anchorage interpretation of the carne asada taco!
What was really amazing was the pickled carrots!!! It’s been more than 3 years since I’ve had pickled carrots and these look and taste exactly like they do in So Cal, except they’re sliced with smaller carrots. The pickled onions are amazing too! Maybe I could’ve looked harder when I lived in North Texas - I did not come across pickled carrots, even at the local hole-in-the-wall near my home that had really tasty...
