Hott Spott on DeBarr today was 9/10 for the delicious hot pot soups (Iām looking at you, red curry - yummmm), 1/10 for the completely oblivious and disinterested service. Despite being the only customers in the room, the entire time we were there, the two very young looking teenage girls were innaccurate with our orders, didnāt check on us at all (I had to ask several times for help with the hot pots themselves), and didnāt bother to refill our water glasses even when asked. They spent the entire time we were there behind the counter or sitting at a nearby table staring at their phones, never making eye contact or even seeming to remember we existed. š
Atmosphere was clean but strange with super sexualized music videos (think Wreckingball) playing loudly on the dining area tv. I was with my own and a friendās children and it got a bit awkward at timesā¦
If I go again and see either of them āhostingā I will continue walking to My Shwarma House just down the sidewalk. Sad but true. Iām sure theyāre nice girls but have literally no interest in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSmall little spot in a strip mall with killer food. Food and presentation - The soups, ramens, noodles and desserts are killer. Curry is spot on. Food Presentation is super cool and makes dining here an experience and not just a meal. Comes out with a heated dish over a small fire, bubbling hot and ready to add your dry ramen. Again, experiential dining.
Atmosphere was āmehā. Super small 10-12 table dining area. Laminated menus with sharpie scratching out menu detailsā¦.It was clean and cute, but I wasnāt transported to Asia.
Service - Have mercy on todayās youths work ethic and understanding of the āserviceā industry. I asked for water refills while the server was on her phone. Had to ask to get our table bussed as dessert was brought outā¦There obviously wasnāt room for the desserts because the aforementioned experiential dining experience cluttered the table. No check backs. Iām a ball buster on service for sure, but this server was wholly unaware.
Price - A bit spendy for soupā¦.$100 for my wife and two kids. No drinks, but entrees...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place could be great if they fixed their sauces and added family style pots and larger portions.I was thrilled when I found out there was a hot pot restaurant opening in Anchorage. My main complaint with the establishment is with serving size. Traditionally there should be a larger pot for family style hot pot. The pots are designed to be consumed individually, this is further reflected by the included "side" being one small batch of noodles (vermicelli/ramen etc). I also wish there was traditional style BBQ sauce for dipping instead there are only spicy options to include a house spicy sauce (mediocre, I preferred the chili sauce I added soy sauce with). The add-ons such as thin-sliced beef and other meats are minuscule. After spending over $60 with 3 other people we ended up walking over to waffle rush to eat waffles because we were...
