BE CAREFUL. They have severely changed their pricing policy. Where an entire dinner was a specific price, now they are charging a la carte. A baked chicken dinner with two sides used to be $12.99. Now it is $12.99 for JUST the chicken, and each side is $3.99, raising your total price to $21.00. Then, they won't give you a receipt, you have to ask for it. the food is not worth the price. This exorbitant price increase has cost them a customer as I will not return. Guess I'll be going back to Jackson's in Sylvester

UPDATE. The day after I posted this review, my nephew went to Dunbars, unaware of what happened to us. He ordered the same baked chicken dinner and was charged the standard price, no a la cart. The owner was there that day and apparently when the cats away, the mice will play. He was provided a receipt no problem, as is their custom, but on our visit we had to ask for one. Still be careful and if it doesn't sound right, get your receipt.

Update to the update. So I decided to try again. This time the owner was there and I was charged the absolute correct price. I feel bad for not visiting in so long because the food is amazing. I ordered four meals: Oxtails, Turkey Wings, Fried chicken, and baked chicken. Sides were rice, rutabaga, Mac and cheese, yams(best ever), and collards. Each box easily contained enough for two complete meals. I'm a customer again and you...

The food was NOT good. The fried cornbread, I took one little tiny pinch of it and immediately spit it out. It tasted like it had been in someone's fridge for over a week! The cabbages were so soft, watery, and overcooked to the point that I spit out the first bite. I don't know if they were in the fridge for a week or in the freezer for a month and then thawed out for today! The barbecue chicken wasn't fresh( taste like it had been the fridge for 5 or more days, too), and I have had much better! The sweet potato casserole was interesting( looked weird, never had it made like that), but I was able to eat it, and it tasted good. I hate wasting money! For this restaurant to have a 4.5 star rating, I hope this was just an off day for them today and...

Take out only. No sit down tables. Building is not much to look at. No parking. Parked in lot of closed down store across the road. Cramped space inside. Get in line, and tell them what you want on your plate. Huge portions of good old, down home cooking. Food was very good. It's a little expensive, but you get enough for two meals on your plate. Prices vary, depending on what you get. Ribs, two sides, a generic can drink, and I added a desert, which was also a huge portion size, for around $18. Since I made two meals out of it, it was like $9 a meal. They also had pork chops, chicken, wings, and fish I think, plus lots of veggies to choose from. It was good food....

Man, the food here is very good. Honey and I went on a Sunday while visiting our daughter's college campus. We happened to stumble across this popular local soul food spot. Let's get into the P & C’s: Pros: - Food is absolutely delicious. - Great customer service. - Variety of food selections. - Generous portions. - Home-cooked Sunday dinner style. -The dressing is outstanding. - Everything is well-seasoned. Cons: - It can be a long wait due to the restaurant being small. Therefore you will be standing outside in a line. - The food is pricey but worth it! - The dressing was cold on the day we went. - The dressing is only served on certain days.

So the experience here was pretty good. I had the bbq ribs and I must say I was impressed. When we first pulled up parking was interesting as we were unsure of parking in the lot next door stated for that businesses customers only. The grill is going out front with the lovely aroma coming from it. The Dunbar brothers have a real winner here with the cabbage and collard greens. Some of the best I’ve ever eaten. They were also friendly enough to take a photo with us after getting our food. This isn’t a dine in restaurant. Order and go. Hot food assembly line deal here. The cornbread looks like a pancake but is really sweet and good. 😉Enjoy

Stopped in on a 1,500-mile road trip that took me through Albany. I'd crawl 1,500 miles on my hands and knees to get another plate of the oxtail. Greens, rutabaga, and black-eyed peas were great too. If I had a little hot sauce and salt in my car, they would have been perfect. Next time, I'll come prepared. Banana pudding gets an A- and peach cobbler an A+. (I had a little cup of each) 100%, I'll be back. The people running it were kind and even the music had me smiling. I wanted to try about 20 other things (the neck bones looked amazing). Great place!
