Hip Hop Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Albany

I visited Hip Hop on Slappey Ave 5/23/24. After placing my order with the Attendant standing outside for drive thru customers there was an @ 35 minute wait before I reached the window to pay. The A/C in my vehicle was not working so the near 90° heat was made hotter inside my vehicle. I asked the Cashier if I could Purchase a cup of Ice. I offered the exact change so she would not have to ring it into the cash register at that moment. She said they were not Allowed to do Add Ons at the Window. I expressed that I was in Distress and that I did not consider a non food/drink item to be an Add On. She stated cups of ice and extra condiments are onsidered Add Ons. I called back and spoke with Olivia who identified herself as a Manager and se stood by what the Cashier had said/done. She did apologize and added that they were Out of Ice. A complimentary Cup of Water would have Sufficed. This felt Inhumane in my opinion. I am Grateful that I did not suffer a Hot Flash during that time as I would have surely Passed Out. So on this specific day, 01/29/25, I pulled up to get some food for me and my kids, and the machine wasn’t working, nor was anyone out side. So I pulled up to the window and the girl was like 44 dollars and I said I never ordered anything. She said huh? I said the machine wasn’t working so I came around. She said no it doesn’t work, someone was out said. I said no one was that’s why I came around. She closed the window and leaned on the register. Ignored me and looked the other way. So when I called to speak to the manager. Another woman picked up the phone and I asked for the manager. She said what happened. I explained, she then said she went to look for the ticket. But as I explained to her, why would it be a ticket and no one took my order? She the young lady apologized and took my order so I can go. The food here so sooooooo good. The chicken wings especially soooo good. The Customer service is always decent. I haven’t experienced anyone rude or anything but just nothing over and beyond which is fair enough. I gave them a three stars because even though is so delicious I have to prep a day in advance to eat here because it’s so much salt it literally sends my blood pressure through the roof. So I have to cut my salt intake a day in advance and also take a water pill the day that I plan to eat there. Blood pressure is a silent killer, you won’t know that it’s through the roof if you are pretty healthy otherwise, but those few hours that it takes your body to adjust to the overload from the food here could be life or death for some. So, I gave them a three stars because in good conscience I can’t ignore that they don’t warn folks about the high salt content. But still, it’s just soo good😋 I’m gonna have to plan a trip there...
