The old world deli quit having their baked girts and eggs with sautéed onions and peppers...yum!!Ive had withdraws...Today i found Jo Jo Macs...so I made a strait line to order...and devoure Their Listed Corral grits....Made with "cheese, bacon, tomato, red onion and sliced Scallions....it was no longer offered but i was told they could still do it ...orderd and waited...and waited...there was only I and a couple that had been served....the Wait person ...now in Observation as i waited...the interior could benifit with a spucing up and additional lighting, and paint...it was not giving out a warm welcome nor was the wait person ..kinda like bare min attention and robotic in aproach ....not warm nor ever a smile ...made me feel like this is a chore that they didnt like ..finally the food arrived...and on 1st sight looked pleasant ..so after some condiments...i dug in...the grits were a little over cooked more like gutenous quinoa that exploded...for lack of timing ...still was satisfying because of my withdrawal...i kept hoping to find the cheese and bacon! but no matter how i tried.... these were elusive....i ordered coffee and cream and delighted to not have to open those radiated little cups...and it was cream the coffee was dark and a bit strong ..but on i went....soon i saw a placement of the check ...not a word so one cup was it ....the check was for the shrimp and grits which was more ....so i asked when i went to pay and also mentioned i didnt taste either the cheese nor the bacon...but the reply was....they cook in with the grits....and i just simply stated i didnt even taste an essence of them ...and the response was sorta matter of fact...ie;what ever.so to speak and they reduced the cost but...it seemed strained and not a possitive ...break.....reading the other reviews.it seems the norm...but we all can improve..times are tough but ill be back to try again and seeif it was just the mid week hump day blues...for sure not Southern Hospitality or...
Read moreThe food is delicious, but unfortunately service is absolutely terrible. We’ve been in several times, and tolerated service for the most part because the food is good. However, our last couple times have been worse than usual. The last time we were in, the table behind us was seated after us, but ordered, ate, and left before we ever got food. When my husband finally went to see if our order was even put in (we had been there for an hour at this point, at our table) they told him that one of our orders was wrong so they had the kitchen fix it. They could have very easily communicated that, but didn’t. They took the food off of our bill, which we didn’t ask for, but it was the principle. That was a few months ago. We finally returned today, only to not even have a word said to us, but for a sign in sheet just be pushed in our direction. We waited, a couple tables had been cleaned up, no one seated at them. After a while I asked the manager/owner if we could sit at a table. She blatantly ignored us, said something to a waitress, disappeared, finally returned and told us to have a seat. Our waiter, different from who she originally spoke with, never acknowledged us. He took another table water, who was already at their table well before we arrived. We waited and waited, no acknowledgement, no waters, nothing. We finally left. Unfortunately as good as the food is, we won’t be returning. Service seems to have gotten worse, rather than better. The owner/manager has the speed of a sloth, so her current staff operates just the same. It’s...
Read moreThis place is my family's favorite. We always take extended family from out of state here and many have said it's the best breakfast food they've ever tasted. I've been here over and over again and the food is consistently delicious.
The atmosphere gives off a very small town cafe vibe; I always feel a bit like I'm in stars hollow when I step into Jo Jo Mac's. Though the service hasn't been reflected very well in other reviews personally I haven't ever had problems. In fact, the owner was kind enough to move my party to a different table so we could be closer to other family that arrived later for breakfast.
I've been here so many times, I don't think I have enough room to talk about every good food I've had here. However, I will address the ones that stand out the most to me. The southern beignets are served with a rasberry and lemon curd, and maaaan is that stuff good! Another highlight is ye cottage potatoes, that come as a side with a lot of meals. They are salty and crispy with a soft middle, a great addition to a breakfast sandwich. A more savory entree option that is my other favorite is the Eggs Benedict, it is absolutely delicious. My family's other favorites are the banana fosters French toast, shrimp and grits, and the OG.
A great breakfast spot with a wide variety of sweet and savory southern breakfast classics. I...
