We had gotten a 2 tiered cake for a celebration recently, and unfortunately the cake did not look like it was done by a professional. The icing was a little runny causing the all the piping to look melted, and the decorator definitely used a XL tip that made the design look more like it was globbed on then piped. The second tier by the time we cut into was slowly collapsing in on the bottom layer, where we realized large plastic straws where used for support rather then wooden dowels. The whole cake was placed on a thin piece of cardboard that almost caved in when we tried to remove it from the box, so the only way to move it around was sliding along the table to where we needed it. The chocolate layer looked greyish brown, almost like old cake mix, and ended up being dry and crumbly. The white cake layer unfortunately wasn't any better, also dry. The icing was probably the only decent thing just needed to be a little stiffer for the decorating, and even that wasn't amazing, just good. Sorry I couldn't figure out how to add a picture, otherwise I...
Read moreI haven’t been to the Cakery since I was a child, probably at least 25 years, back when they were in the complex on the corner of Slappey and Third. My mom would always order specially themed cakes from Cakery for my birthday, and on the day of she would take me to pick them up. It became a tradition to also let me pick out a Gingerbread Man as a special treat to have on the car ride home after picking up my birthday cake. With a birthday coming up, my husband took me to relive this tradition with our boys. To my delight they still have Gingerbread Men! And they taste the just the same as I remembered when I was a little girl. Everyone working there is also as friendly as I remembered. We ordered cupcakes for the kids and I also ordered petit fours. The icing is perfect, and the cakes were perfectly dense, but not too heavy. It was all delicious. The new owners must be very conscientious about keeping this business a staple within the community. Thanks for...
Read moreAs a child this place was the best. I came back home to visit and couldn't wait to get myself my usual. The smell was incredibly nostalgic and gave me high hopes. Unfortunately id rather eat a Walmart cupcake. It was terrible. Dryest cupcake I have ever had. Im not sure what changed but whatever it is, you can definitely tell. $5 for a cupcake that I couldn't finish and a very sad inner child. Publix is your best bet. Edit: im sorry im not sure how to reply to comments, I was charged over $4 for the one cupcake with chocolate icing. The staff member was very sweet, snake tattoo. I was there around 12:30p-1pm today. Thank you for you concern however im not too worried about the extra money I was charged. It was only a few dollars. Accidents happen i understand. I was more so disappointed in the cupcake...
