came back from a long drive and was craving hot noodle soup. Because it was late and my usual Vietnamese joint closed early, I stopped by this restaurant to try a new place. I was told by my friends to try this place for a long time so I did!

An hour before it was closed, there were two other tables in the restaurant. The place is dimly lit so it can be difficult to read the menu. The menu was extensive with limited pictures. I also noticed that the prices are affordable. As I looked at the phó section, I had to make a difficult decision. Should I go traditional or creative? I ended with up a sort of hybrid noodle bowl with duck and bamboo shoots. I know what you might think - ducks and bamboo shoots in a noodle bowl!? The noodle bowl came and I was impressed with the amount of duck meat in the bowl. That said, I was a bit disappointed with the temperature of the soup. Personally I liked the soup to be piping hot but that's my fault that I didn't tell them when I placed my order. The taste was okay - nothing stood out.

The service was good. My orders were taken within the ten minutes I was in the restaurant. When I needed my noodle soup to be boxed, they boxed it for me, which was a great service.

I plan to go back to try...

The chances of getting decent manners and respect from staff is very unlikely here, unless you get the gentleman who owns the establishment as your waiter and/or cashier. The lady there put my order with someone else's then she refused to privide me with condiments, forks, napkins while screaming and insisting that it was with the other order that wasn't mine. I needed to go to work, so needless to say I couldn't waste my time with someone that has that kind of mentality. In general the Portions here are extremely skimpy, and the prices are too high. The extras are small proportions and are expensive as well. It's sad how such a good, average, place is ruined by people who don't value their customers and choose to fight with their customers over condiments worth fractions of a penny, It's very pathetic. I hope they improve soon so that it can be a pleasant place for people to eat at or take out. It is better to go to a place that is pleasant than to take a gamble on a place that doesn't already have very simple things like that in place. There's so many options out there, go to a place where you are treated...

We have been ordering Caf DA Lat for years and love the food and staff. We order the same meals that enjoy frequently yet the past two pick deliveries We have not received what we have requested. We received PORK sesame instead of chicken sesame. We do not eat pork!! The first time this happened we decided not to complain that is most likely a genuine mistake. The second time we checked our order before leaving the restaurant. We notified the staff that this is PORK. Looks like pork and tasted like pork NOT chicken. Pork and chicken are two clearly different types of meat and we know the difference. They insisted we were wrong and it was chicken. We took the order home to ask another family member if this looks and taste like chicken. No it's PORK. KEEP in mind we order this dish regularly and love it. We called the restaurant back. Instead of offering to replace or order. Women in the phone argued again with us and said no " it's chicken" we are terrible disappointment considering how much we liked the restaurant. We will no longer order...

I came here on a Monday night while visiting Albuquerque, and the usual Vietnamese restaurants I frequent were all closed, so I tried Cafe Da Lat based on the reviews. Very clean, not crowded, nice decor and very attentive wait staff. They have an extensive menu (but no 33 beer or salted lemonade) so I tried something different from what I normally order, the lemongrass chicken with rice. I thought there was a bit too much sauce, with a bit of a gravy texture instead of the clean flavors I expect from Vietnamese cuisine. The chicken was a little tough and chewy, with almost a hot dog taste and texture. I walked away a bit disappointed based on my expectations from the reviews, but am chalking that up to the dish I ordered as much as the quality of the kitchen. I'll probably give Cafe Da Lat another try one of these days, but for the time being I wasn't impressed

100% legit! I finally tried this place after years of hearing about and it was LEGIT! This place is now my #1 go-to place for authentic Viet food! The flavors are great! Thanks CDL for having banh xeo on the menu!!! The owner is super nice and friendly and down to earth. These are legit Viet flavors! Look at my last name. I know what I'm talking about. The only negative drawback on this place is the location. I always avoided this place because I'm not a fan of Central Ave. and the vagrants in the area. Only if the mayor would take his job seriously and clean up the crime and vagrants up & down central. I wish this place continued success and to prosper enough to move to a better NE heights location!
