I flew into Albuquerque on 6 Oct 2024 and prior to heading out of the city towards Santa Fe, I wanted to have something good/new to eat in the immediate area. As with most visitors to a new or unfamiliar city, Google became a good friend of mine. I searched for birria tacos because I was in the mood to have some consommé with my tacos but didn't know of any popular restaurants that sold them. Torres Birria Taco Shop was one of many results that came up during the search and obviously you know which business I selected since I'm currently writing a review of this restaurant. When I arrived at the restaurant's parking lot, I was a little skeptical of the location. Although I'm not really familiar with this city, the area wasn't as appealing as one would want, nor did it provide that safe and comfortable feel. Regardless, it was in the middle of the day and I wasn't in the mood to conduct a new search since it was getting late and the lunch window was almost over, therefore, I just elected to eat here. As soon as I walked in the restaurant, one of the employees greeted me nicely and was patient while I was studying the menu and trying to figure out what I wanted to order. It was rather difficult for me because (1) I was starving; and (2) I wanted to try the majority of things on their menu. I ended up getting the Quesa Birria Tacos plate (contained five tacos), the Ramen Birria (included two tacos with it), and a Jarritos drink. Everything tasted so good and I had a blast dipping the tacos in the consommé. I've always heard about ramen birria but never took the time to order it at other restaurants because I'm a little biased when it comes to ramen and having it in a Japanese-centric restaurant. However, I will happily admit that although ramen birria provides a different texture and flavor compared to traditional Japanese ramen, it is still delicious. One of the most interesting things occurred while I was eating at this restaurant. There was a "less fortunate" individual that walked in the restaurant and towards my table asking for money or food from my tray. His efforts weren't ignored but ultimately failed because one of the employees told him that he needed to leave the restaurant which I appreciated since I was trying to eat in peace. After about 4 minutes, the same individual walked in again but this time he didn't stay long since another employee told him he couldn't be in there - again, I appreciated the gesture, but I don't think the individual was happy since he raised his voice as he was forced to leave. Seeing this occur in the middle of the day had me a little concerned with the safety of customers while eating here, but this could've been a one-off situation. The restaurant's décor wasn't anything to brag about because the chairs/table weren't high quality (seems like more of an industrial feel to it). I even noticed a broken window to the exterior of the restaurant which could be a mere accident or a result of a crime - you be the judge. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was amazing! I especially respect this restaurant for their support to the active men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! Aside from the area/atmosphere, the food and service was amazing, therefore, if you've never tried this restaurant yet, I highly recommend you visit soon.

Holy moly! We tried this place for the first time and got lucky enough to notice their Thursday special, which was an absolutely bargain. We had two Birria tacos, a drink, and a HUGE bowl of birria ramen for $10 each. We came starving and, while we got close, still couldn’t quite finish our bowls. The owner here is amazing. We were not expecting such fantastic service and real dishes for our meal. We were checked on several times and were happy to report our delight in our meal back to the owners. We will most definitely be back and highly recommend you come try this place! PS. There was also secure parking and it was easy to watch our car from anywhere in their cute restaurant.

Some of the best birria in the city. I’ve tried many other places and this place is ALWAYS great! Flavor is amazing, prices for the combo are great. I love that I can get some tacos and sides for under $15. The service is always great and the quality and service is consistent! Everything is good, the Birria, the rice, beans, and the salsa is spicy and flavorful. I will keep coming back! Keep trying many places but I always come back here. Consistency! 👌 Let’s also admire the amount of meat! 👏

I recently visited and wanted to share my experience. Restaurants are all about the quick service and satisfying meals, and they did not disappoint. The service was quick and efficient. From the moment I placed my order to the time it was ready, the wait was minimal. I ordered the carne asada fries and my husband got a carne asada burrito and it was exactly what I hoped for. Everything was fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced. I'm in Love with their red chile. I do like the green as well but my go to is the red The staff was super friendly making small talk. As we were eating they were constantly checking up on us. Even though it was a busy time, they handled the rush efficiently and maintained a positive attitude, while checking in on us. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The tables were promptly cleared and wiped down, and the overall environment was tidy. One of the best parts about is the value for money. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. Overall, my visit was a positive one. It’s a reliable spot for a quick, satisfying meal with good service and decent prices. Whether you're in a hurry or just craving some fast food it is worth a...

The reviews were great so I figured I’d give it a try.. I took one star away because they don’t have a children’s plate. I spent $22 to feed a 5 yr old and an adult, this feels like a lot because most places provide a taco, beans rice, and small drink for 6$. I had to buy everything separate and then my child ate off my plate so we were still hungry when we left (my fault but a kids plate could’ve prevented this).

My daughter and I cleaned our plates. The food was out of this world, perfectly seasoned without being too salty. My daughter ate all of my beans and rice as well as her taco and we enjoyed the cool and quiet space inside the shop. We enjoyed the music and the colorful flags lining the interior. Being on central, you can’t escape the environment. I wish there wasn’t a smelly beggar right outside the entrance because it felt a bit scary to go inside. We will come back, although probably do the drive...
