Read moreI would first like to say that I've worked in the restaurant business for over 20 yrs locally here in ABQ. I worked at a locally owned BBQ restaurant for almost 4 yrs. I LOVE BBQ! It's one of my favorite foods. I've seen and heard every excuse there is in this business. I also know that things do happen even in the cleanest kitchen. This is the first time that I've ever written a review on any place. On Tuesday 4/11/2017 around 6 pm I decided to try Dickey's on Wyoming for the very first time. Wasn't sure what to get or try. After some discussion with a couple of the guys behind the counter I decided to get the Picnic Pack for $23.00. I think it's a bit pricey but figured there would be some leftovers for the next day. You get a pound of meat, 2 sides, and four small rolls (slider rolls). I have to say, that the brisket was very dry, lacked flavor, and had some chopped tough pieces. I thought it was going to be thin slices of brisket, not pieces. It really needed some salt. The rolls where hot and fresh. Got some of the sweet baked beans and loaded baked potato casserole. I made one small sandwich and some sides. I had almost finished eating my sandwich when I found a small hair. But I thought that it could have been mine, so I just threw the rest away. After my son and I had finished I packed the rest away for the next day. I left the beans and potatoes in the original container they came in. The next day my son went to eat the rest of the leftovers. When he went to scoop the potatoes out of the container which they were packed in, he found a long black hair in the bottom of the potatoes. I was at work at the time when this had happened. He sent me a text and said that I may want to call Dickey's and tell them there was a long hair in the potatoes. But he had decided to contact them himself. Not sure whom he had spoken with but he really didn't seem that concerned about it. But truthfully, it wasn't just one hair in the potatoes, there was a hair in my brisket as well. But I thought that it could have been mine? But I now believe it was too one of their hairs in the brisket as well. The man offered to give him a $5.00 off coupon. But upon reading the coupon it's $5.00 off a Family Pack for about the price of $35.00. Why would I want to go and spend another $35.00 in your restaurant just to save $5.00. NO THANK YOU!!! That will be the only and last time I come to your restaurant. You're lack of concern and to give us a coupon that we can only use if we buy one of your more expensive packets is not acceptable. Like I stated, I worked in the restaurant business and I understand things happen. But I also know, that I've comped meals or offered people another free meal, especially when a hair was found in their food. It's just something that ruins the appetite. I was very disappointed in the food and experience. Will not be back. BTW.....This is the second time that I've eaten out and have had a hair in my food. The last time that happened, I was at a very well known steak house. I ordered their ribs and took a bite and felt something like string on my tongue. My friends looked in horror as they watch me pull a long hair out of my mouth. It was disgusting. However, the manager acted quickly and was so apologetic. I don't know what's going on in the restaurant business but I never found hair in my food in my 20 years of working in the business. This has happened twice in the...
Read moreDoes anyone know if this place has recently undergone an Ownership or Managerial change? We have been here 4 or 5 times in the past 3-4 months and our experience has been great each time. Friendly staff, and meats were good. We stopped by last night for some take out and it was a horrible experience. First, waited approximately 5 minutes to place our order (no one else in line) Menu has changed from what we usually get, so asked a few questions and their response was I think they changed the menu. After we ordered, they continued to ask us what sides we wanted. (at least 3 times). when we went to pay there were 4 people behind the counter. 2 of them were handling the orders, the other one was at the register, and the last guy was just standing there doing nothing. I asked him for an extra container, and he did not even acknowledge me. just stood there like he didn't understand English!!.It was a really weird situation. The guy at the registar cell phone rang, he answered it while we were trying to pay!!!! If that wasn't bad enough he carried a conversation for about a minute (which included that he had to stay because it was getting busy). Next up, once we got our food, we went to get some BBQ sauce to take with us. The containers (plastic ramikans) we so cheap that you could not put the lids on the containers. my wife went to put a lid on and the container just collapsed. and she ended up burning her hand from the BBQ sauce. So we asked for small side containers, (which they tried to charge us for), and got our sauce and left. Surprisingly, our order was correct, although they did seem stingy on the amount of meat we got. (compared to previous visits). Almost like they are trying to save every penny.
One of my favorite things from this place was their dinner rolls, they used to be so good and buttery and soft. well these rolls had no butter on them and were so so dry. Extremely disappointed in this visit. I will try this place one more time in hopes that this was just a horrible day for them, but I have a feeling that this place is under new ownership and that they are trying to save money anyway they can. (the cheap ramikens were the worst) Hoping next time won't be our last.
Would really like to see an owner reply from this review. was looking at all the other reviews, and noticed that the owner only replys to the good reviews. would really like to hear...
