I'm not sure what the story is here, but I'm pretty sure these are the folks who run (or ran?) Yummi House down the road a bit.
Folks - please try things on the Korean-Chinese part of the menu. It's hard enough to find a place that serves legit Korean food here in ABQ. It's even harder to find Korean-Chinese food!
The jajangmyeon (soy bean paste noodles) is almost identical to Yummi House but cheaper and no shrimp, which is not a bad thing. There are variants of jajangmyeon, they just happen to serve a more traditional/basic on here. Jajangmyeon's best-friend/pairing tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) was exactly the same. The kkangpunggi (fried chicken with garlic sauce) was very different though from Yummi House in a very good way. The one at Yummi House is swimming in sauce like the tangsuyuk, but this one had almost no sauce except the stuff on the chicken. It also had a nice heavy amount of minced peppers and garlic. I appreciated they included the danmuji (sweet/salty pickled daikon radish) and baechu kimchi (spicy pickled napa cabbage) on the side, both of which were tasty to me. You never know what you're gonna get with kimchi but at the time it wasn't the stereotypical stinky/sour side, more fresh.
Good luck to this place! They...
Read moreI tried this place for the first time and must say that initially, I wasn't sure how much I would like experimenting with a cuisine-fusion concept. Past experiences had me feeling a bit apprehensive but this fusion had two culinary components that I liked. After trying Hanmi Korean-Chinese Fusion, I am glad I didn't give in to my hesitation. The food dishes you'll find on their menu are essentially very much what you can expect to see at your standard Chinese restaurant but the way they enhance and flavor the dishes gives them a pleasing refresh I certainly recommend others check out if you're looking for an upgrade on what is otherwise some simple familiar Chinese food. I ordered the Broccoli Beef and sampled the Cashew Nut Chicken which was excellent! The restaurant is not situated in a large space so it's got a bit of a more intimate feel (booths and four seaters here) and parking is shared with the strip mall/shopping center it's located within so wouldn't say it's ideal for very large crowds if eating in. They also appear to be involved in delivery services so that's an additional option if you prefer eating at home. Pricing is in line with what I have seen across the city but they do offer coupons and may have discounts worth...
Read moreUpdate: 2023.10.27 Told a friend how great HanMi is, and ordered the orange chicken (THANK YOU JIMMY FOR COOKING FOOD BETTER THAN HOME!), plus my regular cashew chicken.
As always, staff kept my food allergen free, and my friend finally found good orange chicken that isn't overcooked (and hard), undercooked (mushy), but is "just right": orange chicken cooked to perfection!
I'm looking forward to the day my food allergies are as well controlled as my environmental allergies, so I can enjoy the full menu. Until then, I will remain grateful to the owner for hiring phenomenal staff who keep me enjoying my incredibly limited options.... And making great food for my friends.
Thank you!
(Original review follows) Not many restaurants are safe for people with food allergies and sensitivities.
Even fewer restaurants remember the dietary needs and genuinely make your needs a priority. Hadn't ordered food from Hanmi in 2 months, and not only did the owner remember my food allergies, she made it clear that we had been missed!
5 stars is not enough, especially when the size of the orders, the quality of the food, the flavor, and the genuine warmth are all taken into consideration.
Excellent experience, every...
