Let me start by saying I am giving 2 stars because I do not HATE La Cumbre, but my experience was less than enjoyable. I will also say the two fills I took are great beers. That being said i stopped by on my way thru town in my motorhome to pickup a couple of growlers. I wanted the freshest Project Dank I could get. Bartender told me I cant have one. Nowhere does it say that no growler fills of this beer are allowed. He said he could give me a pint. I said I am driving my motorhome and I cannot drink right now. He then says that they dont have any in cans either. What? The brewery doesnt have cans of thier signature IPA. Ya you can get a bomber bottle down the street. Please explain why I can sit there and drink it all day, then drive home. But I cannot take a growler with me? I have a commercial drivers license. I never drive drunk. I think this brewery needs to A: brew more Project Dank B: review its policy on growler fills. C: take into consideration its patrons, and listen to what they are telling them instead of saying "NOT MY PROBLEM BUDDY, I DONT MAKE THE RULES, I JUST FOLLOW EM"
So i caved and got two other fills because i was at the brewery. But the lady bartender was also rude and the two of them talked stuff about me while they were filling my growlers. Isnt the whole point if growlers so you can take the beer with you and not risk killing people after you have enjoyed your beer.
Great brewery, terrible service.
If there is a next time i will take the bartender up on the pint offer. 5 times. Or the amount needed to fill my growler. I do not care about the money. I routinely pay way more than $25 for one growler of high quality DIPA, TIPA, and QUADS. Todays total was $25 dollars for two growlers. Minus the tip I did not give per no bueno service. I work in the hospitality industry also, I try very hard not to treat my customers this way. A good service experience will get a 25% tip every time. I am lucky enough to enjoy my life. I try to spread the wealth. I care about quality beer, quality service, and the safety of other drivers...
Read moreBest brewery! I used to think the Elevated IPA was the best beer I've ever had but I then tried Project Dank... Yeah that is the best beer I've ever had. The taproom is set up well and has a good style for the atmosphere. Everyone is really friendly and down to Earth even considering all of the awards they have won. Aside from a college education (alcohol research at parties and bars) I have been to 10+ countries around the world and many breweries of all kinds. There are many breweries and large companies with one or two good, but usually not excellent beers, unless you've already had several of them to drink and the flavor seems better. Then when you try the other varieties available, they are so-so or strait-up taste bad so you only drink the one that is ok and familiar. I've been to so many "famous" craft beer breweries and been really disappointed with the different available varieties that I tried and had to stick to their basic best selling beer that tasted the same if I bought it in a different state or country. There are a couple of varieties of beer that I generally don't care for flavor wise regardless of the brand but I have been surprised when I've tried some of those from La Cumbre. I've found La Cumbre varieties of them have a better flavor profile and I liked them even though they weren't my favorite and are generally types of beer I don't like. Great place, great beer, and great people. Thanks for...
