My husband and I were traveling from Arizona to our home in Kentucky and stopped in Albuquerque for the night. We had been eating Mexican food and a lot of meat and we were ready for some fresh and delicious Chinese food. I was so excited I came across this place online because the reviews were so great and the prices reasonable. We went and were both initially impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff, and the freshness of the appetizer and egg drop soup. The initial impressions began to wear off once my husband received his main course. I did not receive mine and as the restaurant began to fill up, many folks who came in after us did receive their food. My hunger was aggravated because, although this was likely not their intention, I felt singled out because I was the only Black person in the restaurant and the only one sitting there not eating. As my husband finished his meal, my food was brought out. We took it to go. Staff apologized, but only gave us 10% off! I was too tired, too hungry, and a little too humiliated to argue. I paid and we left. I understand that there were only two people working that night; I have worked restaurants and understand that it is HARD WORK. Similarly, I have so much respect for folks who are working to make it in a place that may be hostile, at times, to them as immigrants. But while I sat patiently watching my husband and all the other guests around me eat, neither of the workers would even look at me or ask if I needed anything. It was very...

This was a great place last time I came here. From reading other reviews, I gather it has changed management. I used to love their shrimp with lobster sauce. Today I got a container that was more like tasteless soup than anything else. A few small, stale shrimp had settled on the bottom of the large container. They were definitely not the larger, tasty shrimp that I had here in the past. WTH? For this large portion that I ordered, I got one small portion of rice. I’m not sure if the server forgot the other one portion or what. I was already home with my take-out order before I discovered all this. On top of it, it had no taste. What a disappointment. No brown rice option either. Even fast food Chinese restaurants usually have this. Those sauces were in little packets, like in the fast food restaurants. It was not like this the last time I was there. This was a waste of time and money. I will not be back, although I have gone here off and on for several years. I tried to call there after I saw my order at home. The woman who answered the phone, who I assume is the one who waited on me, could not understand what I was saying according to her. I asked for somebody who understood and spoke English and she said there was nobody else there but her. She just kept asking me if I wanted to order some food and claimed she could not understand that I was trying to talk about things I already ordered. Funny how she understood everything else. Worse than a robot. Very...

I was there for lunch on Feb. 17th, 11am to after 12pm. This was my 2nd visit. 1st visit was a really good experience. Really good food. That was last year in the summer. This time, my friend waited almost 45 -50 mins for her food. She didn't get it until she walked out the door. She later said the food was so-so. My food came within a reasonable time. But, the rice was awful, tasted like it had been around for a couple days. Soy sauce did nothing to cover the awful taste. Egg drop soup-really good, eggroll-not bad, but small and you can tell it wasn't made there-probably frozen and reheated. Sweet n sour chicken-well- it was heated up frozen nuggets with sweet and sour sauce thrown on top. Small portions. One waitress. The cook brought out food to my friend as we left. No explanation to her of where her food was that whole time. Nothing. Place was not packed. Waitress was very nice, but being the only waitress, she had her hands full and because of that, wasn't able to be very attentive-at least to most of us- but, a table filled with Buddhists, who were all Asian, had super huge portions, and had no problem getting waited on and checked on. The rest of us, in my opinion, who were not Asian, got small, sub par portions. The employees were all Asian and it came across as favoring one ethnicity over all the non-Asians who were there. Reasonable prices. Nice waitress, which is why 2 stars instead of one. We'll be looking for a better place to eat...

Would not recommend, food tasted fine and service was great, however around halfway through finishing a Mongolian beef and fried shrimp dinner combo, I ran into something extremely hard whilst chewing. Upon further investigation, turns out it was a small ROCK. At first I thought it was just an unground peppercorn , but it wasn’t. After digging around in the food with a fork, I found ANOTHER rock. Absolutely ridiculous, and unfortunately the food was a take out order so I didn’t discover this until making it home. Either way, how does a rock even end up in food, much less two? Totally disappointed as the food did taste good and the service was quality, but none of that is worth chipping a tooth, and frankly this ruined my appetite. Will be seeking a refund and I’m just glad I didn’t bite down too hard and crack a molar.

As of March 2021 East Ocean is open for dine-in. The experience I had with my grandma at East. ocean was delicious our waitress is so nice and helpful. She was very kind a patient with my grandma and I because everything looked so good to eat we couldn't decide what we wanted to eat for dinner. To start off their phone was ringing non-stop for takeout orders even though we were the only dine customer they had their hands busy with other customers walking in and out of their restaurant. What we order was 2 wanton soup 🍲 to start us off with and when our main full came it was the perfect size for use to share and try each other food! We ordered "Chicken egg foo young" and "Garlic shrimp" our food came with some plain white rice.🍚
