Editing Review because of one employee there called Gisele who was SO unpleasant and outright rude that I will not order from here again. She acted like the wife of one of the owners and if I didn't like it so be it (while I called for a business idea, not a food order?) Who acts like she owns the place she thinks she is the Missus now? That just dropped the value and class this place I recommeneded to so many had. Baguette is great but I don't think you'd want to go in a French boulangerie pĆ¢tisserie to be greeted by some Brazilian hoodlum. Not a place to meet dates or professionals. I'm sorry I called about a business venture. Staff is lacking big time if she is the manager. I'd be embarrassed and ashamed to take people there. Dropping stars for that. Pervious review: This is the best French Boulanger PĆ¢tissier in the area. Products are so authentic and delish and good, I ā¤ļø it because you can taste the goodness as it's not drowned by unnecessary amont of sugar. And the service is outstanding! Non-pretentious prices, great products and outstanding service from the owner who is available and happy to serve you....what more to ask? Merci Boulangerie Gustave! 6 stars! Sauf pour tarte aux poires.. what was that??? Mini petite tarte aux poires was tasty but not the size you'd expect. C'est mon...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBonjour! Of all the breakfast options in and around Del Ray/Old Town, our regulars are Gustave's, Junction, and Tatte's (with the ol' Grape & Bean in Rosemont an honorable mention). Gustave's is basically a smaller scaled version of Tatte's: great pastries, coffees, and fussy Mediterranean plates (in a good way... a step up from diner fare), albeit with a smaller footprint and slightly fewer options. Still, the miniaturization affords faster service and smaller crowds (at least between 7 and 8:30 AM), and the space is every bit as bright, cheery, and inviting.
Junction has the heartier diner-y Mexicali offerings and Vietnamese coffee (and cream-filled cruffins!), but it's more of a Fall-Winter-rainy day cavern. Tatte's is upscale, clean, and clinical. Gustave's is an all olive oil, orange-lemony Spring and Summer hangout, with a biergarten built for neighborhood hangouts with pets. (The biergarten by Matt & Tony's -- a local place ideal for networking lunches or surprise-impressing out-of-town family dinners, especially if they might like to try something from the bar -- is likewise popular, albeit with less of a picnic vibe.)

Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās alright - the food is ok and thereās something for pretty much everyone. Before I say anything negative, I want to say that if I was just reviewing the baguettes, I would easily give 5 stars. Also, the team seem very friendly and welcoming!
For me, Gustaveās is a bit of a stressful cafe experience. They almost always forget to give me my order even if Iām standing close to the register. Itās very awkward to pop in and talk to someone about it because thereās a continuous line. You really have to wait right there to actually get it but they often start taking other orders so you need to get out of the way. My partner visits more frequently than I do and they have shared that they sometimes get given the wrong thing or their order is completely forgotten about.
The staff are friendly but the experience feels kind of rushed and itās hard to ask questions about the different options. The display case is pretty high so it can be awkward if you are short like me.
If I am close by and itās quiet, I might stop in but I wouldnāt go out of my way to come here.
This is still a new place and is clearly very loved by the community. Thereās a reason for that and I think it has great potential. Again, itās worth going to pick up...
