Trio’s Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Alexandria

Went Saturday evening for dinner with my date. As soon as we got there and walked in I felt like the workers were annoyed we were there and everyone there kept giving us dirty looks. As soon as we sat down the waitress didn’t even ask us what drink we wanted to drink and just gave us waters but then I heard her ask someone else what they wanted to drink they wanted Dr Pepper and so I said “hey I’d like a Dr Pepper aswell please” so she finally gave me what I wanted. I felt like the waitress was treating everyone else differently than us. The waitress acted like she was trying to rush us out of there or something coz when we got our food (which come out super fast) she said “ok I have y’all’s check ready” and I was like “but I wanted dessert?” And she looked annoyed coz we wanted to stay longer and eat something else. We ordered the chicken Alfredo which wasn’t really that good and for the price you don’t get much and it looks that way with anything you get. The dessert however was a big size and my husband and I split it. It was the blueberry bread pudding with ice cream and it was the best thing about the whole visit. That’s the only reason I’m giving 2 stars coz the dessert was good. Anyway to top all this off the restaurant was super hot for some reason and I had to fan myself and I saw another lady fanning herself too. The bathroom seemed to be cooler than the restaurant itself. The restaurant isn’t really that big either. I also asked for a menu pamphlet to take home and they were out of that. Went to dinner with some friends here (party of 4) and I don't think I'll be coming back. The staff was nice but seemed very inexperienced. We all ordered cocktails to start off and they brought the wrong drinks to the table no less than 4 times. So it took quite a while just to get the right drinks and they were average at best, not strong at all. The one thing I did enjoy was the tuna nachos, but seemed a tad over priced for the amount that you get. 18$ for 5 chips. I ordered the New York strip and it was probably the blandest steak I've ever had. I don't know what they use to season their steaks with, but it didn't taste like anything. The brussel sprouts were very undercooked and hard and the au gratin potatoes might as well have been a soup. Once we ate our meal, we informed the waitress that it was going to be 2 checks, one for each couple, and it was as if we were speaking a foreign language. After about 4 attempts of trying to get the right food and drinks on the right checks, we just had to say don't worry about it and I ended up having to paypal my buddy a portion of the check that they couldn't figure out how to get put on my check instead of his. From start to finish, it was one thing after another that just ruined the entire experience and was very frustrating. I understand this place is new and has to work out some kinks, but this amount of mistakes and problems is just ridiculous. I don't recommend this place at all...

Decided to give this place a second try and I am so happy I did. The quality of food has gone up tremendously since my last visit.

Drinks: Water: I know a lot of people don't rate water, but the water was very clean and didn't have any grit, chemical, or stale taste. That is amazing for someone like myself who rarely drinks soda or sweet tea. 5/5

Green Goddess: My wife had this one, and I sipped a bit of it. It tasted very good and had a clean, fresh taste. The temperature for the drink was perfect and was sweet without being too sweet. 5/5

Entrée: Enjoyed two different entrées at my table. This time around I had a gyro wrap with their home made onion rings. What a difference this experience has been since last time. Thr gyro wrap was nice and hot with flavorful pieces of meat and paired well with onions arugula and tzatziki sauce. I highly recommend this dish.

My wife had the chicken panini with the mashed potatoes. The panini was so good I barely had time to ask my wife for a bite before she was halfway through it.

Staff: 5/5 The staff and management of this place really were exceptional.
