Bamboo Express — Restaurant in Allendale Charter Township

Over-priced sloppy rolls. They are, on average, $2 higher per roll than Grandville. We ordered a few items online at 5:30pm, including shrimp low mein (remember this, it is important in the story later on). We drove there 35 minutes after we ordered and I asked how much longer on our meal - because I figured it wouldn't be done yet and I expected to wait a little. They couldn't find our order! They looked and didn't even see our ticket, which means they hadn't even begun to prepare it! I had to show them my confirmation email to prove that I even ordered it, then they searched through their emails and finally found it. Then they said it would be at least 30 minutes before it would be ready. So, they said they would deliver it free of charge (after I asked) - no delivery fee, but of course I was going to tip the driver bc he doesn't deserve to get screwed bc of their mistake. So...FINALLY almost 2 HOURS after our original order, our order shows up at 7:15 pm. I tip the driver, and we are excited to dig in... We go to dig into the SHRIMP low mein, the ONE thing we were looking forward to, and it's chicken! Disgusting canned chicken. W/e screw it, we've waited two hours and we're starving. Then we go to eat our California rolls and they are loose, falling apart, with avocado oozing out. They were just a pain to eat. Bad experience all around . We already didn't want to go there bc they are so much more expensive, but this pushed us over the line. Grandville from now on. Even the Sushi in Rivertown Mall food court is cheaper and better. Food is decent but not great. Customer service is NOT good. They have their lunch menu online all day, but WILL NOT honor it all day. I paid for a lunch special because I wanted the crab that came with it, went to pick it up, and was told that I was getting the same thing they just made it the dinner combo. I got home and realized they charged me an extra $2 and the order WAS NOT the same. They changed my order WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME AHEAD OF TIME. When I went back to get my crab Rangoons and $2 back, they refused to help me. Telling me it was my fault for ordering the lunch, even though it's available on the online menu all day. We love this place and so do our out of town visitors. Recently had family in town who love Bamboo Express food. They all really enjoyed the food we picked up for dinner. I live right down the street and we order frequently. I have never had my order wrong and the food has always been very hot and fresh. The crab Rangoons are my favorite. I usually get the Mongolian Beef, that has plenty of meat and you can specify whether you want it spicy or not. Also love the shrimp tempura, a tasty appetizer with a wonderful dipping sauce.
