The Nest Egg Cafe — Restaurant in Allendale Charter Township

Went there for the 1st time with my girlfriend both of us were pretty excited trying somewhere new but honestly don’t think we’ll be back. To start the service was very lack luster. Took forever for our server to come back to us. They hardly checked up on us. They were pretty respectful tho but other than that the whole vibe just felt so off and pretty unwelcoming. Once we finally got our food my food itself was lukewarm at best and the portion size was pretty small. I definitely left still hungry so if your a man that’s hungry I would suggest somewhere else if you actually wanna be full after your meal. Even my gf made a comment about how small the size was and was saying she would be hungry again with in a couple hours. Once we finished eatting our server never came back to check if we wanted anything else they just came back with the bill. The most welcomed I felt was when I put my money on the table and stood up to leave they said “thanks have a great day” from across the room. Also there was some type of smaller bug crawling around on the floor by our table not sure what it was. I would suggest trying somewhere else plenty of great options in the standale area. This is the 2nd time coming here and I was hoping it could be where I come with my mom every year for our annual greenhouse visit. First time was great. Great experience, food, and I felt welcomed. Today was the total opposite. After our waitress took our order, I didn't see her for a while. We ordered breakfast food so I wasn't expecting a half hour wait. I saw a guy and his kids who came in AFTER us already eating and pretty close to being done. I finally asked the host where our food was and miraculously they brought it out within minutes after asking. Food was cold. All of it. I was a waitress before and can only assume she forgot to put in our order which happens but she never once stopped by to let us know or anything. Just disappeared for 20 min. After getting our food, I didnt see her again until she gave us the bill. Another waitress checked on us, took our plates, and I even saw our waitress ask her to run our payment qnd give us our receipt. I understand being busy. I get it but this seemed almost on purpose. The atmosphere here is neat. The outer wall is curved, which creates a fun environment. A combination of wood and brick meets modern. There is a warm feeling to the place.

They were out of it seemed like everything. I tried ordering the Crab Cakes Breakfast and they were out. So I tried my backup, the French Toast Puffs. Nope, out of that too. Annoyed at that point I just ordered scrambled eggs, Canadian Bacon, and Toast ($13). Here too there were issues. They were out of a bunch of types of toast. So I got an English muffin. The meal was fine. Technically there was nothing wrong with it. I did enjoy the Canadian Bacon. The eggs and English muffin were just a little blah. Especially for the price. The person I was with ordered the Greek Omelette ($11) and like it a lot.

The service was good and apologetic about being out of everything.
