I have shopped family fare for years when they were near me. But recently while shopping ran across your special coupon system. I was appalled at the fact that I needed to take my card to a kiosk to get coupons for items or pay a higher price. Once it was 29 cents or 19 cents for an ear of corn. That’s a 50% mark up without your “extra” coupon. And then there was the $1.00 extra I paid for a gallon of milk. I’ve used my phone number because I no longer have the card. Now the clerk says I can apply for replacement, get it, go over and get the needed coupons, come back and use them to get the “special price “. I’m at the checkout, rung up, don’t know how to use your machine, and I’m 81 years old. I really don’t want to try to do another jump through a hoop to purchase my groceries. This stuff is confusing. The next time I may need to ask for help to go through your unnecessary requirement. So the truth is if I don’t go through your foolish steps to purchase, I must pay a sizable increase for food. I’ll be finding a more friendly environment to shop in the future, and tell everyone I know or meet how you treat your customers and what it...
Read moreI have a family member that lives in Allendale, we have been noticing some very suspicious charges on my family members debit card, I went to family fare to get the receipts that were charged on my family members debit card. They would not give them to me, because my name is not on the debit card. They said i have to bring my family member with me so she can give them the ok to give me the receipts. My family member is 91 years old and bed ridden, it is a lot of work to get her in a wheel chair and bring her to the store. I had my power of attorney papers with me to show the store it was legal. The manager in charge said she won't do it, she was not very friendly at all!! She didn't give me any other options or tell me what I needed to do to get the receipts. This was totally uncalled for. I had to cancel the card because I couldn't see what was being purchased. I can see now why family fares and D&W's are closing some of their stores. Meijer is only a couple more miles down the road, I'll start shopping at Meijer so much for supporting the...
Read moreYou go to the produce section. There's a PlayStation there. Or you think it's a PlayStation. There's so many wires. Too many wires. You approach the console and pick up the controller. This is your destiny. The reason you're alive. There is one game on the PlayStation. It's Mario Kart. You say out loud, "But Mario Kart was never released for the PlayStation?" There's no response. The silence is deafening. Customers breeze past as if there is nothing there but the produce they came for. Cautiously, you select Rainbow Road. There is no character selection. You are Luigi. You have always been Luigi. You can't remember your parents, your friends, or your wife. All you have ever been is Luigi. The game starts. You drive. There are no laps. You continue to drive. There is no finish line. There is nothing. You are Luigi. You keep driving. The store closes. The lights dim. You are lit by the screen. But there is no screen. You are Luigi. You are driving on Rainbow Road. You keep driving. You keep driving. Through it all... You...
