We had a large group It was a busy Saturday evening (I mean, what were we expecting?)
We were told it would be 20 minutes for a table and they would have no problem accommodating our group of 8. When we we seated, the 8 of us were squished together at a 6 person table. 2 of us were sharing one end.
Our server was very cheerful and apologized profusely for everything that went wrong, but repeatedly told us how overwhelmed she was with the number of tables she had.
I understand being in the business to make money and keep pushing the customers through, however...
A) if you can't physically accommodate 8 people, why would you force us into an uncomfortable eating arrangement?
B) we didn't even get drinks for the first 20 minutes because You RAN OUT OF GLASSES! "as soon as we get some washed we'll bring them out to you!"
C) we asked multiple times after we got glasses for a couple pitchers (to help the waitress out and to keep the glasses full) but the pitchers never materialized. Plus it would have been faster for us to go to the bar and get our own drinks there when our server mixed up our drinks and forgot to bring them to our table for the 2nd round.
D) 2 people in our party did not get their entrees. Apparently our server was so overwhelmed that she forgot to put those on the ticket. She assured us that the dishes would be out in 4 minutes... And they did come quickly, but why are we microwaving Alfredo just to get it out fast after it was forgotten. Again, she was very sweet and apologetic.
E) when the mood lighting came on, the lights on the patio also came on. And back to 2 people awkwardly sharing the end of a table... We had to lean to one side and not move so that the patio light bulb was behind the window frame. Obviously the table isn't meant to have people facing the windows, and it's not the worst dining experience ever, but definitely makes an uncomfortable situation more so.
-The food was decent, but you could tell the kitchen was rushed.
-The staff was friendly.
2 things any restaurant should be happy about on any night. But given the whole experience, we definitely won't be back on a busy night. Maybe a Tuesday for lunch, but you obviously only care about getting as many customers through as quickly as possible and not the actual experience, or you would have told us the wait time was 45 minutes, you would have pushed an extra table over to give us more room to be comfortable without plates hanging off the edge of the table and you would have had glasses ready for us. And maybe by that time our server would have only had 19 (made up number) tables instead of 20 and wouldn't have been so overwhelmed to forget drinks and...
Read moreThree strikes and you’re out! Seeing as Allendale has very limited dining restaurants available, it’s very disappointing that this one is consistently a bad experience. The first bad visit was when we found out that they changed the recipe for the bbq chicken pizza which was our favorite. They changed it to a homemade bbq sauce that is more like a hot wing sauce. The second time we asked for a chocolate milk for my son. He couldn’t get anything out of the straw when he tried sucking on it. Long story short after trying to stir the drink we ended up finding out the hard way that the milk was sour. When we tried to tell our server he agreed but when the manager came over we were treated like we were trying to get a free meal instead of warning them that they had a bad gallon of milk in their fridge. We still to this day don’t think that they threw that gallon away that night. Lastly today we went for breakfast. Our intention was to try the breakfast buffet, but when we got there is was completely picked over. There was some sausage patties, but they were burnt and dried out. They don’t have a breakfast menu so there is no substitute if you aren’t feeling how the buffet looks. As I said it very disappointing when a restaurant like I’m this is consistently bad. We are unfortunately writing this place off and discouraging anyone from...
Read moreI run a daycare for older children and the kids got coupons for a free 10" pizza from Peppino's of Allendale from the Allendale Library. The kids were very excited about this and when I called to order their pizzas, I was told that the coupons couldn't be honored as is, that people had been making copies of them so instead of free, it was buy one get one free. I had seven hungry children, excited about pizza, and did not have the money in the daycare budget to purchase 4 pizzas at $8 each when we were expecting a day of free lunch. I explained this to the worker and she went and talked to her manager and said there was nothing they could do. We got Little Caesars instead.
I'm sorry that people were being dishonest, but that shouldn't have fallen on the heads of the children. Perhaps next year the company doesn't do the coupons or changes them to buy one get one. Perhaps they change the coupons so it's clear when they are original. It's bad business to dishonor what they've given out. We will not be using Peppino's in the future and we were sure to share our experience with all of the...
