We actually really like South Park saloon. We had a very unusually bad experience this evening. It’s busy so we decided to do a take out order. I know it’s annoying to have two young boys sit at the table. We called ahead but the phones were busy - totally normal. South Park Saloon has amazing food and they’re quite popular. So we wait by the bar about 10 minutes to make our order. I really don’t mind that. We were there during happy hour so when I got my check multiple items were about double what I expected. I asked one of the servers about it and she said to ask the guy about it at the bar because he took my order for me. His exact words to me were “When people patronize my happy hour, they usually have 4 or 5 beers.” He did add that there is no place that allows happy hour to go. He sounded quite demeaning as he said it to me. We’ve never run into the issue before when waiting with children but I can be sure this is a policy in some places like he said - I just figured it’s easier for them when I take my children to go. Anyways, I am very sorry that our take out order offended him so much. I won’t be doing it again - which to be honest, won’t hurt South Park Saloon in even the slightest. Their food is really great and they are popular. This was just an experience that left me feeling really bad about the whole thing and I feel I’ll be too embarrassed return.
I recommend in the future, approach it as “hey, our happy hour is designed to encourage people to sit at the bar and order a few more drinks than they usually do so unfortunately, we do not allow the deals and discounts to go.”
Ps - the wings were damn good. Thanks to the cooks. They make...
Read moreWorst experience I’ve ever had in a bar. My husband and I sat at the bar for almost 20 minutes without the bartenders even acknowledging us. They walked by us several times and never even said hello. Not a simple “be right with you”. We asked one male bartender if we could get something to drink and he just said “later” and kept walking. One of the other bartenders who had dreadlocks looked so mad to be there that it even seemed like she glared at us every time she walked by. I understand you’re busy, I was a bartender for 5 years, but this is horrible customer service. Then two guys who were clearly locals sat down next to us. She proceeds to go over and ask them what they’d like. I said “excuse me mam, we’ve been sitting here much longer than them and nobody has even greeted us”. She glared at me and said “oh, looks to me like you’ve been helped” and she turned back to them. We didn’t have drinks, menus, nothing. I, at this point, was extremely frustrated so responded with “no, we’ve felt like you’ve glared at us for 20 min when you were walking by but you never even said hello”. She snapped at us and said “well, too bad, the kitchen is backed up 45 minutes anyways”. I told her that we never even wanted food just to check the place out and get a drink but that we were leaving and she proceeds to say “ok bye” and turn to the other guys again. Not a simple apology. You will never receive good service and respect in this bar apparently unless you’re a local. I’d...
Read moreWe had a terrible 1st time experience with this place. Ordered 3 pizzas and wings to go. Got there in the time frame (30 mins) that it was supposed to be ready. Had to wait at the place for another 20 mins while they kept asking if we paid yet or got our food (yes then no). It seemed they kept forgetting our order and had to make it. By the time we finally got them, they forgot one of our pizzas (but didn't charge us for it at least). When we got back to our hotel to eat, we discovered the pizzas were paper thin and burnt on the bottom. When a pizza is that thin and burnt, all you taste is the burn. Then we tried the wings. While the flavor was good for the wings, they were overcooked and the meat was semi tough. We were trying to feed 5 people and all of us were severely disappointed and barely ate our food as when it's that late in Fairplay, you don't have any other food choices. So now we know. We will not be trying this place again when we come...
