Decided to take a drive to Hoosier Pass and on to Alma for the first time. We were so happy to find the Black Kettle! Wonderful lattes made by owner/barista Mike. The shop is warm, clean and inviting. Also features a nice outside patio. Mike is friendly and helpful. Told him we had driven up from Dillon. One of his loyal customers mentioned that we should drive Boreas Pass back if we had time and Mike agreed. He inquired about our car to make sure it could handle the conditions. It was a great recommendation and was terrific exploring new areas with such scenic beauty and history. We enjoyed the railroad history at the summit, finding new trails and dispersed camping options. The highlight was seeing a moose in the willows. The day turned into a great adventure starting at The Black Kettle with superb lattes!...

My family and I stumbled across this gem of a coffee shop while staying up the street in Alma. Upon walking inside, we were warmly greeted by the owner Mike. He was so welcoming and knowledgeable about his craft. He made high quality coffee accessible and approachable by explaining his process and answering all of our questions about the menu items & ingredients. We tried several different drinks from the menu and all of them were 10/10. The interior of the shop itself was clean, quaint, and cozy. Mike also made sure to speak on other small businesses that he supports and shared local recommendations to us. The combination of great coffee, warm hospitality, good conversation, and cozy atmosphere makes The Black Kettle Coffee Shop a must-visit on your next pass...

This cozy coffee shop is right off Hwy 9 in Alma and we have been hearing great things about it so we stopped in to check it out. I ordered a hot vanilla latte with regular milk and my husband ordered drip coffee - both drinks were wonderfully hot and tasty! My latte was superb! This shop also offers specialty chocolates and some local pressed juices - I’ll give those a try next time. No food is offered at this time. It was nice to meet the owner Mike (he is also the barista) and we wish him the very best on his business!! We...

Visit North America's Highest Coffee Shop (10,348 feet)! Our family enjoyed The Black Kettle's flavorful, and expertly-crafted mocha (with homemade syrup), chai, and hot cocoa. This gourmet coffee shop also offers Christopher Elbow chocolates, along with tasty granola bars and other baked treats. Mike, the owner, provides friendly and efficient customer service. We visited during the Grand Opening of both The Black Kettle and Bristlecone Bakery (full of tasty treats). The Black Kettle Coffee Shop is a delicious beverage oasis in Alma!
