I came here one evening with about a dozen coworkers. This place had been some rundown hole in the wall that closed down. I'm not sure if the space sold or if the owners just regrouped, but one day, Frida's was born.

The interior is very neon and has artwork everywhere, which is very modern for these mid-tier Mexican restaurants. And here they lean heavy into their theme, Frida Kahlo everywhere. It was a very pleasant interior.

We got seated, waited for everyone else to show up, enjoyed the chip and salsa, and ordered and sipped on drinks. The servers were extremely nice and were on point the entire night.

When everyone got in and it was time to order, I did something I was very ashamed of. I came to a new Mexican restaurant, and just ordered fajitas. Now, there's nothing wrong with fajitas, they're delicious. But gosh, there are other things on the menu! Why must I always go to fajitas.

Aaanyway, so I ordered the Fajitas (All fajitas are served in a sizzling skillet with green bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions. Served with a side of rice, refried beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, tomato, cheese, and tortillas), more specifically the Trio (Grilled tender chicken, steak, and jumbo shrimp).

These were amazing. The chicken, which is often the more boring meat, really stood out. It was seasoned well, cooked Just perfectly. The steak was great, sliced just the right way. And the shrimp was certainly jumbo and plump, very juicy. Good stuff.

As for the sides, they were pretty tasty, all done well, but the amount they gave you were the small, boutique-sized portions that are very trendy right now. So, that stinks, especially since the spirit of Mexico is small prices and large portions of quality food. But whatever. The experience was still wonderful.

Overall, this place was very good. I'll probably be coming back...

Bad Food Please avoid going to this Mexican restaurant. I don’t want people to believe this is what Mexican food looks and tastes like. We ordered queso fundido which is melted cheese with chorizo. The queso was terrible, almost milk consistency, like a white powder mixed with water. The queso from Chipotle is one hundred times better I like it. Then we ordered tacos al pastor, they put onions at the bottom and the meat on top so you think is a good serving of protein but tacos al pastor are never served with onion so I took it out and then the leftover meat was hardly any. It was fine I didn’t mind but once I tried it the meat tasted like it was going bad, not even close to the pastor flavour and it could have been the pineapple but I wasn’t able to finish the second taco in fear I may get sick. The tortillas they use are hard, cardboard like and broke very easily. The salsas they offer are freezing so once you put them on the food it makes everything cold. The music was loud and busy we wanted to leave just because of it. There are so many types of Mexican music that are nice and easy to seat and relax but they chose the worse. The server was nice and fast. I will never be back. I hope we...

For everyone who was sad for Habaneros to go, fear not! This is still the bones of habaneros with a fresh new look and new name. Same cooks. Same heart of the kitchen. Same recipes with new editions added. After the re opening I had been meaning to come in and try it again. Our server was Jonathan. He was nice and attentive. We all ordered our food and it came out fairly quickly. The salsa for the chips was a little bland. And the queso was good but alittle too watery. We got tacos, birra quesadilla, flautas and a chimichanga and a tamal. The birra quesadilla was good. But nothing to write home about. We have had better quesadillas before but once again it's hard to mess up a quesadilla. The flautas and chimichanga were both really hard. Like. Extra extra crunchy. But they still tasted good. The chorizo on my tacos was slightly burned BUT I kinda liked it. Gave it a nice smokey charred flavor. The carnitas was very tender and good..little bit dry but good. And the sauce for the tamal felt kind of plain as well. We still ate every bite and it was an enjoyable meal. I'm glad habaneros is back in business with a new fresh look I hope it brings them lots of business that...

Our first visit since new management. To rate it on food, we give it a 5. Homemade salsa and chips were yummy! Service was good too, also 5. We were served by Yanice. The vegetarian Fajitas were very good, and were low on the oil as requested. Asked for the name of who cooked it, and it was Hector, their Head Chef. The accompanying rice, beans, salad, all good. Tortillas were nice and soft. We asked for a combination of flour and corn. Atmosphere was fine, considering we came at the odd hour of 2:30 pm. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. One thing lacking is the lack of vegetarian options! Yanice was a little unclear on how to offer an alternative vegetarian option to other items. Hopefully management will hold a staff meeting and decide which items on the menu can be available as vegetarian options, and educate servers accordingly. It’s nice that our local Mexican restaurant is open again! All in all, we will return, but how many times depends on how often I want to eat Fajitas!
