We usually go in and eat at least once a week AND one of our family members (family of 6) order dinners for takeout for all of us at least twice a week, but we decided to just order pizza today. One of my sisters went to grab it and when she went in, she got screamed at by the worker named Alex, and honestly I'm not even surprised that it happened because I've seen him freak out on people before. One of those times I was standing at the counter and I watched him scream at one of the older guys working there and after he yelled at him he proceeded to PUNCH the pizza oven out of frustration (like who does that???). Then another time, the same guy (Alex) got in a younger male employees face and yelled at him (mind you the part of the restaurant where they make the pizza is open and everyone in the dining room can see and hear everything) that made the whole dining room uncomfortable and silent because we couldn't believe what we just saw, that has happened 2 or 3 times when we were there that he had a tantrum that made the whole dining room stop and stare at him yell at another employee. But anyway, today she walked in to grab the food and apparently there was a sign on one of the back of the chairs that said to stand there to wait to be cashed out, that my sister didn't see and when she walked past it Alex started angrily screaming "BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP!" and when she was apologizing he said something like "CAN'T YOU SEE THE FRICKIN' SIGN?!! BACK UP BACK UP!!" and kept yelling at her when she was apologizing. She went in alone and from the outside we could see that there were about 10 people inside either ordering or looking at the menu by the register, so that's where she was heading to stand because she thought that that was where the line started, and there was a good amount of employees working as well so he did this in front of all of these people! I've talked to Alex before myself, since were regulars and my family and him have had simple conversations with him often but when I heard him yell at the other guy, he was so loud and his tone was scary, frankly HE'S kind of scary and it was just uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine being yelled at by him myself honestly, he made her obviously feel uncomfortable and scared, she's smaller and younger. She called me on the way back and was almost in tears because he frightened and embarrassed her. When she got off the phone with me, she called Papa Joe's and one of the female employees said that she "shouldn't take it personal because that's just how Alex is". That's unacceptable. While my sister was talking to that girl, she ended up handing the phone to the manager while my sister was talking and she just re-explained what had happened. He justified it by saying that "they're really busy and Alex is just stressed out". He didn't seem to care much at all. When my sister said that none of our family or friends would be coming back, and we were all going to write reviews (everyone wrote them mostly on yelp so whoever from Papa Joe's that reads this should head on over to yelp) he said that is isn't fair to them for us to write reviews and to not come back just because of one bad experience. But it's honestly all of it (him yelling at people in the past, him yelling at my sister, the conduct of the woman who answered the phone just cutting my sister off and handing the phone to someone else and the "manager" who justified how Alex treated my sister) combined that we feel the need to spend the hundreds of dollars that we usually spend there, somewhere else. Somewhere where were not treated like that, and our concerns with being mistreated actually get acknowledged and taken seriously. We all plan to make reviews (here and on yelp) on all the times we have had bad experiences here, but let them slide because we liked the servers and the food is good, to make sure that no one else has to go through what my sister did, because its unacceptable. Thanks for making my sister almost cry and embarrass her in front of everyone...
Read moreI almost don't want to do this because I'm sure Papa Joe's worked hard to build his reputation. My son even worked there as a dishwasher. I went to the place I'm a regular I have the point system that my girlfriend uses and we love the food it's the best pizza in town. I think that's because of the recipe and the New York thing we love it. Sadly to say we came in yesterday and they were about nine girls that came in as a group of sports they must have had a game or something and we waited patiently. I walked in the place at 6:30 and my girlfriend was not there until 7:20 we ordered 15 minutes before she got there. After repeated attempts to go up and get an explanation the rude manager barked at me "we have 17 dinners"... The place was a quarter full even with the group and the 17 dinners and if they were short-staffed he should have let us know we did not get our food till 8:30. That's an hour and 15 minutes after the initial order!! why have a restaurant then if you can't accommodate the public at quarter full. They're bringing the place down with his rudeness. Now the two girls (we usually come for lunch), they're wonderful and Antoine was wonderful for us yesterday. However the manager lied to us rather than be forthright, when I went up the last time he said "5 more minutes we did not get our food for 20 minutes" after that and my girlfriend's eggplant parmesan was burnt!!! Hidden under the cheese, yes burnt and he tried to charge us for that she didn't realize it cuz she ate the veal first which was excellent. Sadly, this is what happened and strongly thinking about ever going back after that. Maybe one more chance...but it's...
Read moreThe pizza is good compared to other big name brand competitors in the immediate area. The sauce could use a little more seasoning. The crust was crunchy and soft in the right spots. The slices were of acceptable size but not bigger than a man's head. The tables were all clean and set. The floor needed to be swept in a few places. So I popped in looking for the delicious taste and superior quality I had just experienced a mere few days earlier on vacation up north. My plan was to sit and eat with my two little ones, whom where also craving some pizza. I decided it would be better to order takeout after not getting a greeting upon entering this establishment for the first time. No initial "hello", "how are you" nor even a robotic store greeting. Not even a smile was rendered. No one was mean but no one was warm. I'm more of a service kind of guy, even if the food is just blah. So, the pizza is acceptable for the prices they charge. If you are looking for great service, go some other place. The restaurant needed a good dusting and the lights were a little too low if you asked me, I guess to conserve energy. I asked my kids what they thought after leaving. They were split. One said the people were OK, the other said they weren't nice. They agreed that the pizza was good, but not as good as those they had eaten just days ago up north. I think the place needs more energy and more attention to detail. The pizza is fine but even that can be improved upon. I'll go back one more time to come to my final conclusion because I know people can have bad days. I also haven't tasted the...
