Chez Marilyn — Restaurant in Alton

Decided to give this place a shot despite mixed reviews. Worst decision ive made in awhile. The bartender was nice and told us we could seat ourself wherever. The place was empty so we had anywhere we wanted and that should have been a sign. We sit down and look over the menu a few minutes while the server asks us what we qould like to drink. My girlfriend orders a saeet tea and i order a dr pepper. She gets our drinks and sets the sweet tea down and says they dknt have sweet tea but sigar on the table(she could have started with that info) then we place our order for a burger , salad , and alfredo.....the server gives the order to the cook who we hear mouthing saying hes out of cheese for the alfredo so we decide to add another buger. Meenwhile the server goes back to the cook and asks for our salad. Hes arguing with her about putting cheese on the salad saying thats why they run out of cheese and refusing. Went here with my husband a few weeks ago and really loved the food, drinks and atmosphere. We tried going on Saturday 6/14 and could not get a server to take our order. We waited for 30 minutes and enjoyed the band while waiting. But, after 2 different servers came out to the patio 4 different times and completely ignored us we just left. This place has the potential to be great but the lack of service is disappointing. You guys, this place hands down has the best Smashburger me and my old man have ever had! You would not think that a martini bar would have the best Smashburger but they do and they're calamari was pretty on point and I had an amazing pasta dish! I've been told they're crab cakes are amazing also! I'm excited to go back and try some martinis and also some more food we were also able to bring our 7-month-old son in whereas before it was only 21 and up!
