Solera is a great new wine and craft beer bar in downtown Alton. The space may be small, but it is extremely attractive and inviting. Very tasteful decor. The entry is recessed which allows for tables and seating outdoors in addition to the table and bar seating inside.

They offer a selection of wine varieties from different regions. Wine by the glass and/or bottle are both available. Their craft beer offerings have been thoughtfully selected to please whatever style is your preference.

During our visit, Trevor was behind the bar and his knowledge, helpfulness, and friendly service were greatly appreciated.

I really enjoy this place because you can sit down and have a drink with a friend and have a conversation without having to shout over music or be distracted by TVs. You are allowed to just focus on the person and even meet new people. Each time I have gone there, it has been an atmosphere of friendliness with new people being introduced to the bartender by other patrons. Steve (said bartender every time I have visited) always has a good wine recommendation. But even if wine isn't your thing, there are a variety of other options. We had a wonderful and very educational evening at one of their sponsored wine tastings. Excellent selection of wines from Matchbox of California! Great values at very reasonable prices. We hope they do well in their new distribution efforts in our area.
