HOME OF THE FOOT SOLDIER FOOTLONG CHEESE STEAK! So I was looking for a cheese steak hoagie, but one off of the well beaten trail. So enter Chewy’s……and a Chewy’s that apparently is under new ownership. Now all I was looking for was a good cheesesteak that would satisfy the desire for a good heavy sub with good ingredients and some soul to go with it. And they didn’t disappoint! I was the first order to call in for the day. And the guy, who apparently used to operate a food truck and a location on 7th ave, had the grill fired up and had my cheesesteak ready in short order. When I arrived I was handed a nice sized footlong wrapped in foil……which was quickly dubbed as the “Foot Soldier Footlong”. This because you will march right out of Chewys knowing you will be satisfied with, (what turned out to be), a cheesesteak truly bulky with meat, smooth with a decent textured melted cheese and with savory onion/pepper ratio. Now, sure, at $14 dollars some will complain. But that’s today’s economy, not greed on the part of the ownership. But you do get great taste with this. And you do get filled. Now I’m sure culinary purist will find fault. And critics always will find a flaw. And, having distinguished palates and extraordinary olfactory senses, I suppose that they should. But like James Brown said “Don’t criticize!”. Just feel good living in America where you can enjoy good food like this. So march on over to Chewy’s and get a Foot Soldier Footlong ……. and be glad that the only war you may face will be finishing this dense cheesesteak in one sitting.

Me and my wife have done several reviews of places and this one sticks out. A young man bought this cause of his love for food and making people happy. He also brought along another guy who owned a food truck. Together these guys along with they're friendly staff have started the new Chewys. The food there is amazing and when I tell you these guys take pride in there food they really do. Chicken fingers made from scratch hand breaded to order with a blend of seasoning that will make you rethink chicken fingers. The wings well to say they're amazing would be an understatement. To pour your heart and soul in your cooking and showing it to see your expression yeah they love what they do. Now that being said we didn't order a lot like we usually do but the things we did order blew me and my wife out of our chairs. If your ever in Altoona go to Chewys you will not regret it. And a famous local band goes there for the food.

Great Food but, I ordered Curly Fries with NO MUSHROOMS and STILL received MUSHROOMS on my order. Plus as you can see in the photo I was given Regular French Fries instead of the Curly Fries I had originally ordered at First. I was still charged $23 plus I generously Tips the Driver. Pretty UNSATISFIED for my First time.

ordered wings that were on special, was quoted 45 minutes, got there after that and was still waiting for 45 minutes. Terrible service, will not be back, much better options in the area, crisis or no crisis. Waiting area is dirty. Update: after 2 years they still haven't gotten it together. Customer service is terrible.. Came in 2 minutes before promised time . The lady said "it's going to be awhile, take a seat" quite rudely might I add. I left the store. If you going to be late with an order, at least show a...
