Big Texan BBQ — Restaurant in Amarillo

This is my honest review.

Food: The food that our table received (party of 4) was not up to par. The main courses were not cooked as asked, the side dishes were cold, and drinks were not delicious, even for a non complaining customer.

Service: When our waiter was notified about our food, we did not feel that there was enough worrisome to the staff. Our waiter; although we are appreciative and realized how busy she was, we felt there was not enough attentive attitude towards our table.

The atmosphere: No real complaints.

Overall I wouldn't say don't ever try this restaurant, it is a definite experience. I would recommend having a basic food palette to enjoy the food.

Money: We did not feel the prices were way out of budget or extreme; however, for the food we received, we felt the prices may not have been exceptional.

Honest, if the food and service combined were even just a bit more valued, our review would be way different. We did not feel the big Texas welcome walking in or during our meal. Maybe the restaurant is too close to the New Mexico border? ( New Mexico people know...

Wish I could rate on the food but the service factor is so bad we likely won’t get to food. Came in today, a Thursday, and was told the wait was about 30 minutes for a table of 4. After an hour I tried to get an update on our status in line. At first they couldn’t locate our pager in the list. Then I was told it would be another 36 minutes. When I asked why they told us 30 minutes if the wait was closer to 2 hrs the checkin employee replied, I dont know, I just know we are busy and that’s the wait time I was told to say. I replied respectfully that I was going to ask moving forward that they don’t tell anyone else 30 minutes when they know the wait is closer to two hours. The poor gentleman before me in line had been here for 2.5 hrs and was told they couldnt even find him on the list and there wasn’t anything they could do. Another couple we were waiting with ended up being told they had been paged earlier which we promptly told them that was also not truthful. When we asked for the manager they refused to bring someone out...

Came here as a kid during a family trip to Colorado. Decided pecan while I was working in the area. It wasn't real busy and I sat in the open bar area. My waitress was quick, cute fastest friendly and efficient. Got my 16 oz steak in less than 10 minutes from order. I got the mashed potatoes and some kind of creamed corn side that was good. Of course my steak was as expected cooked medium perfectly, juicy and tender. Topped it off with a Lonestar and a giant piece of lemon cake... That I could only eat 1 bite of.. full. Thankfully it comes in a clam shell... It's huge. Snack for the hotel. Of course this is a tourist destination so be ready for people walking around with their cameras and phones invading privacy... Just roll with the flow and enjoy the full experience. I highly recommend this. Oh yeah I did not see anyone trying the 72 oz...
