I will never buy food from the Shipleys in Amarillo. And that’s coming from someone who worked there. I will not support their business or the golden chick next door under the same management. There are 3 managers, who started off very well. However one decided he was gonna put himself in charge, which was fine at first. He then would flirt with all the females on staff and make comments towards them that made everyone uncomfortable. This same manager had no idea what was going on inside the store and just got in the way. He would lay his expectations out for his so called shift leaders, and then yell at them for listening to him. The turn over rate here is extremely sad considering they’ve only been open two weeks. The crew at Shipleys is phenomenal and does amazing work when this manager is not there. This manager is in charge of the schedule and overworks many individuals and expects more from them, without a pay raise. There are a few people who are light duty due to pregnancy that he doesn’t give them a day off, or breaks. And if you are caught in the back taking a break he will yell at you, even when there are no customers in the store. He will send the girls he flirts with home early, and expect the one girl who’s closing and pregnant to stay longer to make sure the store is closed right. This manager is extremely unprofessional and talks bad about his employees to other employees. The other two managers are amazing and very helpful, will help anywhere they see needs help. Even washing dishes, whereas the one who is supposedly in charges sits in the front neglecting to make the upcoming weeks schedule. The supervisors and general manager are okay, still rude but tolerable considering they aren’t constantly over your shoulder telling you what you’ve done wrong by doing exactly why was asked of you. If it weren’t for the one manager, Shipleys is an amazing place to work. It’s a great crew, and very fun. When you add in the management and the people from golden chick who just get in your way and shove people into tables, it’s not worth the...
Read moreFirst time trying this and what an experience. Ordered on the mobile app and put my phone number in so they would contact me if there were issues (which there were), but never got any call or message from them. My father showed up to pickup the order well after the estimated time because we like to give people a little extra time and the order still wasn't ready (he was the only one in line.) They decided to substitute my mother's sausage egg and cheese kolache with a Jalapeño one. She can not handle spice. Also substituted the raspberry filled with a strawberry one because this location apparently doesn't carry raspberry. Shouldn't you put on the app not available at this location or not have it on there to begin with? The strawberry tasted like fake chemical strawberry as well. Again this would have been made much easier if I was contacted like it said they would do when I placed the order. The ham and cheese kolache had 1 little sliver of ham in it, so we basically got cheese and bread. Overall not a great 1st experience and makes me real...
Read moreI had heard Shipley donuts were legendary, so I visited the Amarillo location a couple days after they opened. I can see why their signature item, the glazed donut, is popular. I only tried one because they offered two free for downloading the app. It was very sweet and messy. In my opinion, it lives up to the hype, even if it isn't my preference. Personally, when someone mentions donuts, what I picture in my head is a cake donut. Those are my favorite, so that's what I was there to order. I ordered a plain cake and a blueberry cake. Both were so overcooked they tasted bitter and unpleasant. I thought maybe it was just a bad batch, so I came back a couple weeks later, ordered a couple more cake donuts, and again they were burnt and awful. I'm not in the habit of insulting someone's food if it doesn't suit my personal taste, because someone else might love it. I feel like it's worth mentioning in this instance however, because any friends I've spoken to who've tried the cake donuts at Shipley agree that they are...
