Sushi House Town Square — Restaurant in Amarillo

I have never had Asian cuisine of any type that was completely void of any sort of flavor... until I ate here. My wife and I stopped in during lunch. We each ordered some sushi and some noodles. The meal came with miso soup. The miso soup was pretty good. And as we would soon discover, it was the only thing that had ANY flavor. My wife had the California roll. She said it was okay... not good, but not bad, sort of bland. I got the spicy salmon roll. It was actually pretty gross. It was a solid peice of raw salmon wrapped in rice, drowned in mayonnaise, with a strip of Sriracha sauce to make it "spicy". I would have LOVED spicy. But there was so much mayonnaise on it that it completely drowned out the flavor of anything else and left me with a disgusting slimy mayonnaise squish with every chew. Then our noodle dishes came out. My wife's pad Thai and my pad ci u looked good, but they were both bland and flavorless... like eating pasta without sauce. Even the broccoli and chicken had no flavor in my pad ci u. Also, the shrimp in my wife's pad Thai still had the shells on them. Who puts shrimp mixed in with noodles WITHOUT removing the shells? I don't know anyone who enjoys picking through their noodles to remove shells from shrimp. The decor seemed cheap. That's all I will say about that. Our waitress was the ONLY saving grace of our visit. She was attentive to our needs, but there was no saving the food. Avoid this place at all cost unless you like bland, flavorless food and sushi with your mayonnaise. You may be better off getting sushi from a shady...

My wife and I came to eat here to try some different sushi in town. We haven’t eaten at the original Sushi House but wanted to try this one as the new restaurant that just opened up. It’s a nice quiet place. The staff is really friendly and the food was quite good and filling. The Frankenstein roll was especially good so I would definitely try that one. We recently had a great birthday dinner with 10 people. Alyssa waited on us and she was amazing! We all got there at different times and she was very gracious about that. None of us ever ran out of drinks and she was just super friendly.
