All in all I would give this place 5 stars. The atmosphere is great with lots decor featuring wine and wooden wine barrels including a pretty cool entrance.
Here is the context of our dinner. A large group of family gathered in Amarillo to celebrate the life of my deceased aunt. There were cousins, aunts, uncles etc. my sister picked the place and my other sister made the reservation-a bit at the last minute because of all the other things she was doing/helping with. Because planning a funeral is really hard. So she said, āI made the reservation for 14 people because 14 is a big number.ā And in typical family fashion people kept inviting other people to the dinner stating, āwe have reservations.ā I believe about 30 people showed up. š¬
Cask and cork was a bit under staffed for our extra large group but they did a great job of rolling with us and our crazy. They set up another set of tables next to the one they had already set up, they took orders and just went with it.
We were the first to arrive and thankfully ordered a burger for our 3 year old before we ordered our food. Cause you know, hungry and tired toddler. I ordered the blackberry ham and goat pizza. It was amazing and I would highly recommend it. My mother in law ordered the portobello fries. My husband ordered a burger and sweet potato fries. He didnāt get his food until we were leaving. Honestly I think they gave his food to another family member but we didnāt pay for it and we got a burger and fries (not sweet potato fries) as we were leaving . And honestly we couldnāt be that upset because of the gross underestimation of people that we made the reservation for.
The rooftop patio was really cool and there is an elevator for wheelchair users or for people who struggle to climb stairs.
The food was excellent and the menu was modern and creative without being pretentious.
This is not a super kid friendly venu. We had 4 kids under 8 and they got pretty board but honestly we chose the restaurant for the food and rooftop patio. Part of the patio was covered and part was not. It was really neat and A+ for effort, rolling with the punches, and giving our family space to talk and catch up during a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI dislike writing bad reviews but so many things went wrong with dinner at this place that it just can't be a singular incident. Starting first with drinks, I ordered a signature cocktail that should have had blackberries in it but instead had strawberries and for "cuteness" was served in a plastic drink pouch (not typical for finer dining). It was awful and one can't be substituted for the other as the flavor profiles are totally different and strawberries don't go with peach or lemon which were also ingredients in the drink. We ordered two appetizers and a bison tenderloin, medium rare, with a premium side of asparagus along with fingerling potatoes but asked for all of the food to be served at once as my husband and I were splitting all of it. The appetizers came out first and while the shrimp was good, the crab cakes were burned. Then the steak came out and was overcooked without the asparagus. They replaced the steak and the mushy seasonal veggies with asparagus but also replaced the fingerling potatoes that should have been served with mashed potatoes instead that we did not ask for or want. After all of that, we were given a dessert which was Creme Brulee. It was okay but not great. The brulee top was extremely thick and chewy not crisp and crunchy like the sugar top should be. Overall, I don't recommend this place for the price and issues this place has. Our waiter was nice but after all the issues, I thought he should alert the manager but we were not dressed in finery (vacation clothes for us in over 100 degree weather) so I guess he didn't care enough. We always leave a good tip regardless since it was not his fault for burned or overcooked food or incorrect cocktails but he still should have alerted someone higher up about the multitude of issues and it was obvious to me that he paid more attention to the other diners that were dressed up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here last night and holy cow it was fantastic. This was my first time to Amarillo and now I cant wait to come back. Service was awesome, I had the Bulgogi Tacos for my app. A lot of places bulgogi marinade can be overly sweet and syrup like. Cask's is perfectly on that cusp of sweet and savory where a great bulgogi is supposed to be. I had the braised short rib with a side of broccolini for my main. The rib was dang near falling off the bone. Just gave it a gentle push with my knife and it slid right off and perfectly juicy. The mashed potatoes were light and fluffy with little chunks here and ther and perfectly seasoned. And the veg of the day, green beans, were expertly sauteed with a crisp crunch. The basalmic drizzle was the perfect pair to compliment and cut through the richness of the meat and potatoes. The creme brulee was lovely. The custard was silky smooth not super sweet which I was grateful for because there was a nice thick layer of burnt sugar and a mixed berry compote. The O Bee Hive Baby cocktail was divine as well. It has a lavender whiskey which is why i got it because I have never had something like that before. Normally if I see lavender in a drink it's typically as a syrup that overpowers everything. This lavender whiskey was njce and bright and light mixed expertly with some honey and lemon juice served hot. It was perfect for last night because of it being a little chilly. My server last night was also absolutely top notch. I cant remember his name unfortunately. Somewhat tall and slender. Righteous beard. If the owners see this i hope he gets some kind of kudos or something because he was truly one of the best servers I've had in such...
