Taqueria el tapatío #4 — Restaurant in Amarillo

Myself and 3 daughters went for dinner while ordering drinks I also ordered Queso. We received our drinks from a 2nd lady and I mentioned the Queso and she said “ok”. About 10-15min later we still had no Queso and 2 of our 4 plates of food had now arrived with a 3rd waitress. Again, I mentioned the queso she replied she would check on it. Waitress 3 brought out the queso and it was either #1 or #2 that brought the other plates. One daughter dipped into the queso and it was cold. We begin to eat our meals and everyone at the table had very runny refried beans. We each took a bite and let me just say none of us had anything positive to say about the beans and we all had looks of “yuck” on our faces. One of my daughters ordered enchiladas and she was very displeased with the taste 3 bites in and she was done. I had a chimichanga and the inside was very is gooey. I couldn’t finish it because the slimy/gooey on the inside was nasty. 2 of my daughters were pleased with all of their food except for the beans they were runny and tasted like a tin can! When we were done one of the 3 waitresses walked over looked at our plates and asked if we would like boxes. We all said no. A lot of food was left on that table. She then brought me the ticket and my oldest daughter (22) noticed that they didn’t charge the correct price for her meal because her meal was the daily special. They did correct it at the register after I pointed it out. After trying to eat awful food and then leaving a tip for whatever waitress it was going to go to I then read a sign that said if you pay with debit/credit cards you will be charged a 4% bank fee. I can confidently say myself and 3 adult daughters were not pleased with the service because we had no clue who our waitress was and they obviously weren’t communicating with one another, we weren’t pleased with the no flavor very bland, runny and tin can tasting food nor was I happy about paying a 4%...

I've been to Taqueria El Tapatio at their location on Coulter street, and it's always been fantastic, so I was looking forward to trying this spot with my mom. She didn't have a good experience when it first opened but was going to give it another try since I hadn't been. She don't write reviews but I do. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the standard. We ordered the menudo and caldo de res, a dish we've loved at their other location, but this time was a letdown. The flavors were off, and it just didn't taste fresh as expected. We left the menudo meat all there. I took my caldo to-go to maybe add some seasonings. I am not that hard to please.

When we shared our disappointment with the waitress, hoping she would offer a solution or even just an apology, her response was dismissive. She simply said it was premade, with no effort to address our concerns or make it right. However she did leave saying she would tell the kitchen. Customer service is crucial, especially when the quality falls short, and the lack of effort to satisfy a loyal customer was disappointing.

We expected a similar experience to what we enjoyed at their other location, but this one missed their mark in both taste and service. Waitress was not horrible just lost star for not being equipped to make-it-right.

I went to the new Mexican restaurant on Amarillo Blvd west.El Tapatio. It was on December 18th 2022. I waited 10 minutes to be seated. I was by myself. Other people of large parties was asked how many. I finally said that I wasn't with them. The hostess said to me that you can go seat yourself. I looked at her and said in disbelief ok. I picked table #13. The waitress took my order. I then got up to up to go to the restroom to use and wash my hands. The first stall had a person in it, so I went to the next stall next to it. The person and myself finished at the same time. The person the first stall came out and DIDN'T WASH HER HANDS . I seen the back of the person going towards the kitchen area. I know she was working there. She had on a black dress shirt and apron. I went back in the restroom to wash my hands. After seeing that I Will Not Be Going back.
