Went to this bar for the first time and the bouncer was asking for two forms of identification to get into the bar. Never in my 34 years of life in any state nor government office have I ever had to provide two forms of IDs. Now this wasn’t the icing on the cake, when we left and decided to bring more friends to this establishment, one of our foreigner friends had an ID from their country and it was not accepted only to be proceeded by getting asked to get their picture taken and another picture of their ID. Mind you this is a bouncer or should I say the manager asking to keep those pictures on his personal phone. Not even police officers are allowed to do that. I very patiently educated the manager or bouncer about the legal problems that could arise if they continued to do that. Although I find it hard to believe that they do that to the majority of college students that go through that door. Mind you my friend group had no one younger than 21. Most of us, late 20s and early 30s. It felt racially motivated as we were all Latinos. It’s hard to ignore behavior like that when I’ve never had a bouncer ask for a face and ID pic to keep on his phone. Over all experience was a zero as we barely made it into...
Read moreIt pains me to add even a star to this wretched bar. They change and take away their only worthwhile special (21Mugs) without any rhyme or reason, removing any reason for actually stepping in the door. They usually charge a cover and the atmosphere is awful, no good space to be with the people you came in with or to meet anyone else. Pool is even horrible here, I can't get drunk enough to ignore the poor quality here. The deck is the third best in Ames, but there are only three. Find somewhere else to go. I have yet to have anything resembling a good experience here at Cy's and I think it'll stay that way as I promised myself I would never go back. I hope for your sake you...
Read moreI was having a great time with my friends until an off duty manager with curly hair bumped into me and threatened to fight me at 12 AM. After I didn’t immediately respond to his threats of violence , he asked the bouncers to remove me from the bar. I had not physically done anything wrong besides verbally defend myself until the bouncers told me I must leave because the OFFDUTY manager was upset. If you have the opportunity to visit other ames bars, mickeys has much better deals and...
