Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Ames

I ordered a Steakburger from the restaurant. The steak came seared at a well-done consistency, accompanied with onions, pickles, and a leaf of romaine. The steak itself felt quite dry however, this is well expected. The steak tasted as though the meat had been salt brined.

First impressions of the entire burger, the steak blended well with the selection of vegetation on the burger; an overall salty yet, crunchy experience. Adding the restaurant's featured sauce, the burger turned to become much more than once ancipicated. The sweetness and zest of the sauce danced quite nicely with vegetarian.

Proceeding to the fries, I thought there fries were quite soft. This may have been a employee factor but my fries were quite soft and chewing them offered no crunch but instead an unwelcomed mushy texture. I refused to finish halfway through the fries after a good majority were mushy.

Overall, the burger performed very well for a well-done burger. The only real improvements I could suggest is a greater focus on fry...

First time visiting. The fries are different 😂 but good! My order was fresh, hot and juicy! We followed it up with cement shakes and omg! It hit the spot! The weight scale even showed me how much I liked it the next morning though...SO BE MINDFUL IF YOU'RE WATCHING YOUR CALORIES AND FOOD CHOICES. The atmosphere was very retro and I Loved it! I most definitely will be returning....BUT it is extremely expensive. So make sure you got your plastic pass 😄 or that paper cause your gonna need it there! Just way too much goodness, to NOT wanna try something new. The restaurant was pretty clean too (I didn't use the restroom though). My only complaint, would be the NO HAIR NETS granted they had on hats or visors. One young lady had a visor hat and some extremely long hair in a ponytail halfway down her back still.....so some advice I'd offer is wear a hair net WITH your hat if your hair is THAT long. However, outside of that.....I enjoyed myself and so did my kids....

Went through drive-through and it took forever to get up to the window and there wasn't that many cars ahead of us. Then when we ordered the food I asked the guy at the window why it took so long and he said because people that work their don't know how to do their job. When we got the food and drove off it wasn't even close to what we ordered. So we took it back inside and gave it to the same guy who just took it and walked off. I asked to speak to the manager and asked for my money back. She looked a little stunned but was apologetic and gave me a refund without hesitation. We never did get our food except some stale fries. Worst fastfood experience I can remember. This is meant for the Grimes location. The Freddie's in Ames is 5 star and the folks there are wonderful! Sorry guys, thought I was leaving a review for...
