Five stars for the cookies (they are delicious!) and ZERO stars for the female manager who "helped" me this evening. I had a very frustrating experience trying to order cookies online and by phone (15 minutes and multiple tries with no results), so I arrived at the store to purchase my cookies in an unhappy mood.
I complained about the issues I'd encountered and explained that I knew this was not THEIR fault (the people behind the counter), but the manager had a real chip on her shoulder and told me not to attack her staff.
I explained the problems I had (my address is nowhere in their database), and she said, "Well, I'll have to see if we can do something about that... or I guess you'll just have to drive to the store when you want cookies."
I was thinking to myself, "Hmmm, if you're SERIOUS about trying to resolve this problem, then you might want to write down my address so, you know, you could CHECK ON IT. But she was obviously annoyed with me and had no intention whatsoever of helping me in a professional manner.
Maybe she was having a bad hair day, maybe she's just unskilled when it comes to customer service, but I always teach that when you have an irate customer, the most effective, helpful and professional thing to do is DE-ESCALATE, show a little sympathy, ask questions, at least PRETEND that you give a rip.
Instead, this individual did a really good job of pouring fuel on the fire and winding me up even more. As I left the store she was actually TAUNTING me, "Hope you have a great night!"
I WANT to say that I hope she gets fired, but instead I will say that I hope she opens her mind and learns some people skills. If she stays on her current path, I predict a future of limited...
Read moreThis store was one of those places that I knew existed for a while and really wanted to try, but just never got around to it until just now.
If you're looking for a solid, can't complain kinda, cookie, then you're in luck because that's exactly what they sell! They have a great assortment of cookies, and the ability to pick different cookies for each half of a sandwich is simple, yet novel.
Their frosting sandwiches left a little bit to be desired. If you are coming from somewhere with really amazing cookie-sandwiches like I was, you may be a little disappointing but at the end of the day it's still too cookies and frosting; It's gonna be a good time no matter what. I can't truly attest to the ice cream sandwiches as they are currently not making them in-store for health and safety reasons - They give you a scoop of ice cream in a cup and two cookies and send you on your way. In this regard they were also disappointing, but I understand and believe at any other time they would be much more enjoyable.
As far as cost goes, it is very reasonable if you pick your order up. Delivery is pricey, especially if your order is small. I would happily pay the delivery fee on 2-dozen cookies or more. anything less and the benefit of delivery is outweighed...
Read moreI remember when Insomnia Cookies came to this spot on Welch Avenue when I was at Iowa State University. It was a welcome addition to the area - I always enjoyed a sweet treat late at night, both on the weekends and sometimes on the odd night in the middle of the week. On a return trip to campus for recruiting for my company, I had the same craving late on a Wednesday and decided to satisfy it at Insomnia Cookies.
The interior was what I remember it being - a small receiving area for people to order, a counter to receive the orders, and a bathroom off to the side. I opted for a sugar cookie. It was as good as I remember it being - warm, sweet, and filling.
If Insomnia Cookies came to the Quad Cities, I'd probably be visiting too frequently. If I get back to ISU again, I'll probably be visiting here again late in the evening. Thanks,...
