This Thai restaurant in Ames, Iowa, delivers a satisfying dining experience that caters well to lovers of Southeast Asian cuisine. The Pad Thai appears traditional and appetizing, featuring well-cooked rice noodles with a balance of egg, protein, and garnishes, offering a hint of authenticity. The chicken fried rice, with its ample portion, seems to be a comforting and familiar dish with a home-style touch. Additionally, the fried dumplings look golden and crispy, which could be a delightful starter, especially when dipped into the accompanying sauce that seems to add a sweet and tangy kick.
The condiment station is particularly noteworthy, showcasing a variety of sauces like chili garlic and soy, as well as jalapeños in vinegar, allowing diners to customize their meals to their preferred level of spiciness and flavor. This attention to detail suggests the restaurant understands and caters to the different palates of its customers.
The presentation of the dishes is straightforward and unpretentious, which might appeal to those who appreciate a no-frills approach to dining where the focus is on the flavors. Overall, the establishment offers a solid Thai dining experience where the food...
Read moreFirst time to try Thai Kitchen. I can say it was the best tasting soup Ive ever had in Ames. I ordered Szechuan beef, and it had the most amazing taste Ive ever experienced, strong beefy, spicy goodness. Unlike a lot of international places that say their dishes are spicey and there in no heat whatsoever, this one had great heat, it was also very warm too. Overall I would recommend it, tho mine came with about 5 pieces of beef and 6 cubes of tofu, and the rice was in the soup itself. I must have mis-read the picture in the menu, cause I thought I was getting a plate of food. The appetizer, which came with main entree, was chicken satay, which is 5 very small pieces of chicken. The dipping sauces were okay, I could taste the cucumber in the one, the Red sauce, to me had no taste to it. Sodas are 2 dollars, with free refills, there is free wifi password is thaikitchen, no bike racks that I saw, dunno about delivery, though about 3 people came in to pick up food. It was busier for a Wed in the...
Read moreThai Kitchen has the best Thai food in town and also happens to be the most affordable Thai food in town; while the other place is very good too, do pay for presentation and atmosphere there. Thai kitchen is laid back and casual; you pour your own water and hot tea and get your own silverware, and the meals are brought to your table thanks to a plastic stand up number.
However, they have gone through a lot of changes during my four years here. I'm not sure if it's because of a change in management or a change in philosophy, but these changes have been mostly positive. They are no longer cash only, for example, and use Square for cards. The interior has been completely repainted and the plates and bowls upgraded and it looks better for it, while honestly losing a little of the charming "hole in the wall" feeling.
I go here quite often and get the green curry almost every time, so can honestly say the food has not changed in quality (this is a good thing.) it's...
