I really enjoy eating the food at Chef Lau’s. I usually order the salt and pepper squid, but I wanted to shake things up today so I elected to order the chicken and broccoli combination! What a surprise, the chicken was well seasoned, the broccoli was fresh, crunchy but not raw, and the fried rice tasted so real, not the usual stuff you get from a Chinese restaurant, but a lightly seasoned, not too salty, very deliciously prepared fried rice with carrots, peas and eggs. Everything was freshly stir fried and you can taste the difference and the light flame touched flavor. I will definitely be back!

I believe this is the finest Chinese restaurant in Amherst. The service here is exceptional, and the warmth and friendliness of the staff, especially the Chinese lady, truly enhance the dining experience. The steamed sea bass was an absolute delight, incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. However, my personal highlight was the salted egg yolk with chicken wings, a flavor combination that left a lasting impression. Trust me, you must try this place!!

The poached chicken is what chinese food should be, real food cooked without needing to be submerged in a puddle of sugary, salty ooze to taste good. It comes with ginger sauce, which was fresh and full of flavor. The roast pork is even better, sweet and tender like boneless ribs minus the excess oils and additives. I'm also a fan of their pork fried rice, which is the tastiest in the region.

I'm surprised I'm reading "awesome" reviews, my experience was different here. I don't usually write reviews. My usual Chinese place was closed so I decided to stop here. For a tiny place with only a few seats, I was surprised to see that their lunch prices were a lot more PRICEY than usual Chinese restaurants in the Amherst area. So I ordered their 'Shrimp fried rice" (to go) and the moment I opened it, it looked like WHITE rice with shrimp and egg mixed in. It tasted STICKY and it was def NOT FRIED. Maybe since I'm a new customer, they thought I wouldn't notice the difference between fried rice & regular white rice? But I have never seen 'shrimp fried rice' like this and it was very obvious they used already cooked, regular white rice and just added a few small shrimps and a lit egg to it! Also It had no seasoning or flavor, I only tasted egg. They were skimpy with the condiments too, giving me 1 soy sauce packet, unfortunately the rice needed more to help with the sticky none flavor taste! I had to put the rice in a pan and FRY it myself at home, I added flavor and it tasted better ....Is this what I paid extra for, to cook the food myself? I Didn't return it because I didn't open my food until I got home...I feel duped though!...

Nice lady at the cashier, her warm smile made my day. Food is amazing with complex flavors and seasoning. Got the Spicy Kung Pao chicken with vegetable fried rice and spicy chicken wings. *note that the chciken is NOT fried. Which makes it a healthier option for us. Im normally not a fan of non-fried wings but this ones got some flavor and real nice kick to it. Super juicy and tender as well. The sauce for the wings got some nice seafood broth aroma to it with enhanced umami factors. Same goes withbthe kung pap chicken, similar seasoning with bold notes of peanuts and a hint of sweetness to the sauce with, again, a nice kick with that spice. Fried rice is perfect in texture (not mushy) and and the egg really compliments the rice. The veggies have a nice crisp texture as well.

Overall, this place does not use too much sodium and I can't taste so much of the MSG like other competitors so that's definitely a plus + šŸ‘

Very quick service too. 10/10 reccomend!

This will be my spot from now...

I ordered $12 worth of food and I tipped up to $15 and got a sadly light tiny portion of food. It was beyond ridiculous. I think they dislike white people. Hello! You own a business in Amherst and white people are your cash cow. But the manager or owner there said he does "Hong Kong style" as though that is some excuse for pitifully small portions. I wouldn't say anything unless it was that bad. It was bad. And not exceptional in the food quality; definitely not representing the word "chef" I'll never go there again and I will tell my friends about this too. These people have no idea how to generate more business and get people coming back. Get $5, lose $500. ...
