2023 Update So Aleppo moved into a brand new location! Looks amazing.
Looks can be deceiving. Prices are even higher now and food portions and quality are mediocre at best. These are $$$$ prices for $$ food (mostly on plating and looks)
Food is flavorless, dry, oily fries. $17 for the sandwich BEFORE adding your protein of choice, but don't worry it comes with a handful of those fries I described above. I ordered the gyro sandwich which came out to $22 and was grossly disappointed.
A small pita not house made, filled with random vegetables, a splash of whatever dressing and dismal portion of actual protein.
Conclusion: your money is better spent elsewhere in this same plaza including the CAFE right across the way that makes better food, better portions, at lower prices. I will not eat here again after my second stint since the relocation and a benefit of the doubt. 2 stars for decor and plating.
2022 Update PREVIOUSLY 3/5 The food quality has gone down. The service has gone down. The prices have doubled. $7 for a small bowl of lentil soup $4 small bottle of Perrier $30 "Large" appetizer combo (hummus, baba ghanouj, 4 pieces of falafel, and a tabouleh) all small size $7 plate of a quarter onion, a single tomato, a single cucumber, and a couple radishes
They lose customers because of a pandemic or otherwise and punish the loyal ones that continue to visit them.
Sad to see it.
Previous review was a 5/5 Pre-COVID
Hands down the best place to eat and smoke hookah in the area. Food is always fresh and hot, with tons of flavor and great portions, the physical appearance of the dishes is eye candy and makes you salivate with the aroma at the idea of digging in. Indoor and Outdoor seating with plenty of heat lamps makes this place perfect year round and its on the backside of Brookhurst so you don't have to deal with smelling and listening to the hundreds of cars driving by every second. The vibe is mellow, the place is super clean and classy decor, really a place you can take anyone and be happy. The customer service is second to none, the staff is friendly, very knowledgeable and makes suggestions on how to enjoy the meal, and zero language barrier. The prices I believe are on point for such an establishment, and with the perfect combination of traditional dishes and atmosphere this is my absolute go to from now on.. PLEASE don't change and wish this place the best! (hoping they buy out the competition and turn things around...
Read moreI have been dining at this restaurant for over 2 years now. I get food at least once a week and spend about $20 each time for my lunch. Service has always been amazing, and the staff is usually very friendly. I’ve even had a lunch experience where the chicken shawarma was a little dry. I shared it, and the staff was very receptive.
Well, today, I went to pick up my weekly $20 lunch bowl. I mention that my bread has been cold when I pick it up, and if it could be warmed. She made an unfriendly face and said, “Sure.” She reached inside my pickup order, grabbed the bag holding the bread, walked away, reached in to take the bread out, and placed it on the warmer. I felt really anxious seeing her do this without gloves on. She placed the bread back in the bag and walked towards me, placed it inside my pickup order, and handed me my meal.
As politely as I could, I expressed, “Please don’t take this personally, but I got a little freaked out by you handling my food without gloves, seeing as you are also handling the cash register. I’m sorry, but could you please get me another bread?”
She snatched the food, grabbed gloves, took the bread, walked back towards the bread warmer, and threw the bread. It landed in the food warming area where servers pick up food to serve. She did not throw it away. She did not clean the bread warmer; she just placed a new piece on it. When she brought me the “fresh” bread, I tried to be polite again and said, “I’m sorry... I don’t want you to take it personally.” With an unfriendly face, she turned around and started walking away, and said, “Yeah, uh-huh.”
The level of unprofessionalism in these young food service workers is at an all-time high. It can make even the finest food establishments look ghetto. This was a terrible experience. Went from 5 stars to 1 star. Sometimes the service itself can be the reason a restaurant holds 5 stars, and I am all about service. You can’t have good food and poor service. I hope she works on not taking everything personally. We are human. We all make mistakes. Also, do not treat the customer poorly over a mistake you made! Just improve...
Read moreSeem like a good restaurant at first as soon as we walked in. Waited for about 10 minutes and still no one sat us down. So I took the initiative grabbing couple menus and sitting down at a table with my family without a server. Then waiting for another five minutes the female server finally comes and says did you take a seat yourselves. I said yes of course we waited for 10 minutes even said is there anybody back there no response so I figured that we take a seat ourselves. The server seemed kind of cranky right at the beginning, and seemed like she was just in a rushed to either go home, or she does not like working there at all. We ordered the food, and they gave us the food without any utensils at all, and the meat was so tough hard as a rock. This is not a 4.2 star but a zero star. There was literally only two people sitting down when we arrived there was no excuse for them to make us wait over 15 minutes.
The waiter said, how was the food in the middle of us eating we told them that the meat was tough and all they said was sorry instead of saying here let me remake that for you. Overall very bad terrible customer service, disrespectful to customers, and will never eat here ever again.
All the good reviews are false they are not true. They probably created false accounts to bring up the restaurant to a 4.2 star when in reality it’s literally a zero star.
Also, I forgot to mention the Shawarma there the bread was hard as a rock barely any meat, so dry, couldn’t even swallow my food properly. This restaurant will eventually go out...
