This property is a Marriott in name only.
We stayed here 8 days.
On our second day, we learned that no housekeeping of any kind is provided. I reiterated the length of our stay and asked again if we could get housekeeping and was told no. I was told if I wanted fresh linens, I could come down to the desk and get new sheets and change the beds myself. Who wants to change sheets on vacation?
This hotel is near the beach so when you come back and have sand that gets on your floors, tough turkeys, you can just live with dirty floors. You spill when you're using the kitchen? Tough luck. You can't sanitize the counters. No clean toilet or shower for you either, no matter how long you stay.
When we arrived, I asked for pillows for our two sons, as I had booked the room for 4 people. I was told they had no more because other guests were hoarding them. After 4 hours of waiting for them to "find" pillows, I told them I was going to Target and would submit a receipt for them to reimburse me. Suddenly, they "found" pillows.
When we went to the pool and asked for pool towels, we were told they ran out.
The breakfast was disgusting. Every single day they offered Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches that had been microwaved in their plastic packaging and then put in a chafing dish to get soggy, and mini "quiches" that had also been microwaved in plastic packages and in which the first two ingredients were cream and binder. This was served every single day for 8 days and on our first day, another guest remarked that it had been the same in days prior to that too. In addition to the two microwaved "hot" options, there's watered down oatmeal with a selection of toppings, dry cereal, oranges, bananas, bread, and yogurt. There is nothing fresh, very little of nutritional value, and no rotation of variety at all. And they don't put enough of it out at all. It was not uncommon to come down early in the 8:00 hour (breakfast ends at 9:30) and see all of the yogurt, milk, and fruit gone. On the holiday weekend, a woman came in at 8:50 and literally the only thing left were some yucky scones. She asked for more food to be put out and the breakfast attendant declined because "[she] was going to start cleaning up in 20 minutes." The guest asked for even just some bread for the toaster and the hostess refused. Breakfast is advertised until 9:30 so you need to provide enough food for the duration.
The housekeeping only attended to rooms of people who were checking out. They'd throw the trash bags and dirty linens in piles outside our bedroom (the way the hallway was shaped created a little "nook" right outside our bedroom door) so we often got to walk past trash and dirty laundry multiple times a day as it sat there for hours waiting for someone to pick up. At one point they threw a half-eaten, rotten watermelon on the floor right outside our room and left it there for hours. Gross.
One day we put some dirty towels and a trash can out to be emptied when we could see housekeeping was still on the floor. They just left it there and refused to attend to it. We took the trash out ourselves the next day.
The two small trashcans outside the building were usually overflowing.
The tub wouldn't drain properly and wasn't fixed despite 2 maintenance requests. So while you showered you got to stand in pooling water. In a tub that hadn't been cleaned in days.
Every single problem we encountered was due to the decision makers for this property being cheap. Too cheap to hire enough staff, to have enough linens, to provide enough food, to hire a professional if staff maintenance can't fix a problem, to provide housekeeping.
This hotel represents nothing at all that Marriott stands for. It's a Marriott...
Read moreI do not recommend staying at this property, unless they do some renovations and do better on keeping up with the maintenance and housekeeping doing some quality work.
We had one of the most disappointing Marriott hotel stay experiences. The upkeep of this property completely failed our expectations with Marriott brand and standards.
Major disappointments: Toilet bowl had a ring of VERY obvious mold around the rim! This is something visible when you can see before you walk into the bathroom. Housekeeping really failed their job on this and I couldn’t believe there was no management checking their work. This was disgusting. It’s not something that can build up within a few days, so it clearly shows how sloppy the cleaning work is or completely lack of training or quality check. It’s hard to believe this is happening in a Marriott property… The radio/clock on the nightstand, the cable on the radio/clock end was completely broken, you could see the copper wire showing. People could get electrical shock or even electrocuted from it! Again, the housekeeper didn’t pay attention to it. Who knows how long this clock has been broken, and it just sits there. Very dangerous item to be in the room like this. The towel hook on the back of the bathroom door was almost falling apart. It came really loose. There is no way the housekeeper never noticed this, but it seems like it wasn’t getting reported to the engineer to get it fixed. Soap holder in the shower has very visible mold around the caulk. It’s something every guest would definitely see if s/he stands there to take the shower. This could easily be re-caulked. Everyday we spot some gnats (or similar insects) in our room. Not sure where they are from (window or sink), it was super annoying. May need to do some pest control or deep pipe cleaning.
Minor disappointments: There was not a single USB plug in the room to charge the USB devices. Most hotels adopted this trend and added some USB outlets in the room, but not at this hotel. The microwave was super small and the turnable function was broken. Based on the kitchen cabinet layout, a slightly bigger microwave could fit there, but they picked a tiny one to put there. The bedsheet was getting old, it got those fuzz balls. Time to get some new sheets. Carpet in the room wasn’t very clean. Close to many corners you could see it was not well cleaned/vacuumed. Maybe part of the reason was that the carpets were old too. The laundry room was pretty dirty and unorganized. Also the door room card reader was broken, probably should get it fixed. No upgrade was offered based on the Bonvoy status during check-in. Breakfast service was suspended instead of offering to-go bags.
We did encounter some nice and friendly employees during our stay, but the things that let us down were too many so it outweighed the good experience parts.
This may be an older-ish property, but that does not mean the upkeep and housekeeping should be at a lower standard. We were very disappointed about this stay. I don’t know how many other guests also went through this disappointing stay experience, and I’m sure the similar issues we encountered may also be happening in other rooms at this property too. Be aware of all these points when you book at this property. If you are looking for an exceptional staying experience, I suggest you look...
Read moreClearly, this TownePlace Suites is in the midst of a major renovation. Notwithstanding, because of its excellent proximity (10 minutes walk to Gate 1 at Anaheim Stadium), it's the best choice if you want to avoid extra parking fees for an Angels game. That's why I stayed here, and prayed in advance that the rest of the details would be better than some others have written about. Some yes, and some no.||The service is outstanding, given the circumstances. My Marriot Titanium status was recognized and choices provided upon check in with each choice fully explained. I elected to go with a renovated room in one of the two buildings, but it meant staying in a much smaller studio room. As a solo traveler for this trip, that was fine with me. I should have asked, however, for a room not facing the street. A lot less noise at night. Fortunately, I always travel with and brought good silicone ear plugs which totally mitigated any potential loss of sleep.||Breakfast area is small, but a full choice of hot and cold free breakfast was provided. Given the breakfast are space size, during peak hour, I was invited to share a table with another couple who were very nice and accommodating. As such, I made lemonade out of a lemon breakfast space situation. The other couple was lovely. Again, service here is outstanding! Food was constantly resupplied.||The studio room was newer but (and presumably throughout the renovated building) there are no plexiglass showers. Only combo shower/tubs with plastic curtains. But everything was sparkling clean. The bed was queen size and comfortable. The A/C worked very well, and is quiet. The only very strange feature in my room was that the TV was clearly in the wrong position for watching while in bed. It just doesn't swivel enough for the screen to be viewed. So, if you want to watch TV, you must sit on the couch facing away from the bed. Again, I managed but I really like to watch TV in bed before sleep.||Re. recreational stuff, I took one look at the hotel pool and saw that it seemed to be loaded with dirt at the bottom of the pool. Don't know how often it is cleaned. Besides, with all the construction equipment being staged near the parking lot, it wouldn't have been a pleasant experience. I did use the fitness room but it is also quite small. One cycle machine and one treadmill, plus a few free weights, and the fitness room size is among the smallest I have seen.||My only other pet peeve is that my bathroom toilet had no cover. Just a toilet seat. Yuk again! Everything else was fine. The shower head functioned well. Since they only make up the room every other day, it might be necessary to ask for additional towels from the front desk, which they happily supply.||Next time I hope there will be more walkable good choices near Anaheim Stadium but for now, lower your expectations, hope that the hotel isn't charging too much, because your standards need to be lowered when...
