Colony Wine Merchant — Restaurant in Anaheim

I skipped away from my sister and nephew (two-day Disney trip) to have a class of wine around 9pm of Day 2 (desperately needed). I was pleasantly surprised by this wine bar as the decor was comfy, yet elegant and chic and better yet — Wednesday half of wine flights and a selection of bites which were delicious! Particularly, the steak tartare paired with the Lord of Saints Pinot Noir (wine #2 on the flight). At some point, I felt guilty that I was basically in heaven and my sister in hell (still at Disney AND it was her birthday) so I decided to bring the wine bar to her. The mother/daughter expertise each came into play (wine and cheese) as they assisted in the creation of this surprise — priced excellently and selected based on what I described as my sister’s taste. Thank you by the way!! She walked in with bloodshot, exhausted eyes, saw the setup and was so elated! But more importantly, she loved the whole selection — 2016 Carr, cheeses and the lava cake! The Noord Hollander Gouda provided two separate textures and experiences with and without the wine, we absolutely destroyed the double creme brie (with honey) and I would’ve fought her over the lava cake if it wasn’t her birthday. This is our favorite low-key wine bar. They are never too crowded. The flights are delicious and cheeses are hand-picked. You can even buy the cheese to take home. The decor is warm. The owner/server/musician is very friendly. I recommend the wine, beer, cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, and cobb salad. You can't go wrong. Everything here is great. Great wine, great food, great staff. I've been going here for nearly ten years and I've thoroughly enjoyed every visit. They have a great selection of wines and a few food items for service. Their charcuterie plates are a must! I also love the salt and pepper pistachios. They have a small match section with bottles they serve and a curated selection of gourmet food items like crackers, chocolates and jams. I haven't had an item I didn't love....
