I got a cold. 😪 What to eat when you have a cold? Chicken noodle soup of course. And we are having it Korean style.
The restaurant is huge! We were seated promptly, and the waitstaff was very polite. This sign was posted on the wall. You can order extra noodle for free.
Two kinds of kimchi were served. Spicy kimchi and sour white kimchi. Dr. P loves both kimchi. Their spicy kimchi tastes strong. I saw other people adding the kimchi to their noodle soup. If you like the soup to be spicy, that's the way to do it. Throughout our meal, the waiter came by a few times with small buckets of kimchi to refill for us.
Pork dumplings had a really thin wrapper. The filling was pork and garlic chives. Comparing to Chinese dumplings, the Korean version had a lot more meat. It was delicious.
Kalguksu, Korean chicken noodle soup, is what the restaurant is known for. The noodle was soft. The pork dumplings in the soup was delicious. Love the light and flavorful broth. It really soothed my throat. There are also ground chicken meat and vegetables in the soup. Portion was quite big. This was enough for 2 meals for me. But if you can eat a lot, don't forget to ask for the free noodle refill.
We really like the dumpling and noodles soup from this restaurant. The food was hearty and tastes like...

The soups are definitely large portions. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and it was enough for two people. The menu itself is pretty limited. They have plenty of cold noodle options. We also ordered the steamed dumplings and pan fried dumplings. According to my BF, the steamed dumplings had no taste. I did try the pan fried dumplings and those were good. Typically when I visit a restaurant that serves dumplings, they always serve the dumplings with some sort of dipping sauce. When we asked our waitress if they offered any sort of dipping sauce, she completely changed her attitude with us. I'm not sure if we offended her, which was obviously not our intention, but the service wasn't as great afterwards. She did tell us to mix the sesame oil with the soy sauce to have a sauce. My chicken soup was good and very flavorsome.
Like I said, service was good at first, but that only lasted for so long. Pretty big location, should be large enough for a large party. Parking is big as well. You could easily miss the location when you're driving by. It's within the same plaza as Dresden's the...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem, though it's not really hidden or unknown, but regardless it is still quite the gem! Myung Dong's most popular dishes are the Kalguksu and mandoo. The kalguksu is a big bowl of soup, noodles, veggies, some ground meat, and some dumplings. The soup is thick and starchy with a hearty flavor with house made noodles. Myung Dong's mandoo or Korean style steamed dumplings are quite good in their own right.
Myung Dong's main treat, in my opinion, is their banchan of essentially two types of kimchi, a pungent garlic red kimchi and a more subtle but still strong white kimchi variety. We like to say their kimchi has a gasoline or kerosene aroma because of the heavy garlic and spices in there, but how good it tastes, arguably one of the best kimchi side dishes around.
Myung Dong is decently sized inside with plenty of tables for groups or larger parties. Myung Dong is a very traditional Korean restaurant and though it has gained in popularity over the years it has maintained the quality that we've been enjoying...
