I have a deep resentment toward the Anaheim store, especially the dude with the British accent. On December 3, 2024 I was in the area to visit Mickey Mouse and friends, amongst other things. I needed a "Lido" style mount for my rental car, I see the only local option for instant purchase would be HRO. After perusing for a couple of minutes after Noon, looking for the "Lido" area, I noticed a "Magnetic Mic" display set up on the counter for hands on demonstration. So back in 2012 approx, I happened to be on station at my old police department in an inner ring (urban)suburb of Cleveland, OH. There was a ring at the front window, and I happened to be closest to grab it. It was a salesman making a cold call attempting to sell these "magnetic mic" brackets. I had a few minute convo with him, took his business card to give to the Chief(who approved all purchases). I informed him that it probably wasn't going to be a sale here, as we were in a fiscal emergency and had laid off all civilians at the PD, except one, just months prior. Anyways so I saw this display and the microphone that was attached to it, a Yaesu/Vertex commercial style mic to which I rarely have seen, yet alone touch. So I pick up the mic, click the PTT a few times, again because I've never had this mic in my hand before, while simultaneously attaching and detaching from the "Magnetic Mic" base. The Brit gives me a look of what I can only describe as disgust, walks into the back and states not once but twice, "We have a kid in the store", "WE HAVE A KID IN THE STORE!" I look around and there were no children in fact it was myself and one other adult male. If I desperately didn't need that Lido, I would've left without making the purchase. Inform that guy that not everyone who "plays" with a hands on display is a "kid". Originally licensed in 1993, and an ex Police Officer, I've been around a radio or two. Lucky for me here in DFW I have options, I can go to Paris and see Richard and Christine, who appreciate my business. Or I can have DXE ship amazing fast. This is not a rant on Bentley and the boys in Plano(who are AMAZING!!!) but I've definitely been less liberal about just shooting 25 mins to HRO Plano on a whim. All due to a comedian in...
Read moreAs a newly minted ham, I stepped into the Ham Radio Outlet in Anaheim with a boat load of questions, and unsure of what to expect. My experience, however, surpassed any expectations I might have had.
From the moment I entered, the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff were palpable. Each member of the team greeted me, eager to tackle any query I presented, regardless of its stupidity or complexity. Their expertise helped me as they navigated the good, the bad, and the ugly of my inquiries with patience and insight.
What struck me most was the sense of community within the store. It wasn't just the staff who were eager to assist; fellow customers, overhearing my questions, didn't hesitate to offer their wisdom and advice. This collaborative atmosphere added a rich layer to my learning experience, making it not just informative but genuinely enjoyable.
The store's inventory is another highlight. They boast an extensive selection of radios, antennas, and all the essentials (and then some) that a ham radio enthusiast could need. Even when a specific item wasn't available on-site, the staff went above and beyond to source it, offering to send it directly to me or make it available for pickup at the store.
Ham Radio Outlet in Anaheim has quickly become a weekly destination for me, not just for the gear, but for the camaraderie and knowledge-sharing making my visits all the more enjoyable.
For anyone, especially those new to the ham radio community, looking for a place that offers both top-notch equipment and a supportive environment, I cannot recommend this store enough. It's a rare gem where both staff and customers alike are dedicated to helping you grow in your amateur radio...
Read moreI went here because I have emerged myself in this frequency hobby I enjoy so much. I explained I did not own a HAM Radio, but that I owned a police scanner and was interested in a better antenna for reception. They were not rude (dont get me wrong) but were very dismissive and un-interested with helping me once I told them what I was there for. They handed me an antenna and walked away. When I asked if I could look around a bit, they gave me the 'yea, yea, go ahead'. This sucks cause I would of gladly returned to spend my hard earned money there when my time came to invest in HAM equipment. Hopefully its just this store, because reviews say otherwise! The cashier was the only guy who seemed helpful and so polite so thank you sir!
In response to your reply: I wasnt trying to be rude or negative about your store or your service. Its simply what I (and a few other reviewers) thought of it...I think your sarcasm proves my point. Good day sirs, I wish you...
