Decent meal for a late, lazy Sunday morning
Ordered Vietnamese Coffee, Vegetarian (Tofu) Banh Mi, & Fried Egg (added meatloaf) Banh Mi all for delivery (UberEATS).
Ate literally a few pounds of red meat the previous night so went with the Vegetarian (Tofu) Banh Mi. Unless I just never noticed it, I don't think I see this option often. It was basically small fried tofu strips, with the usual pickled veggies, fresh jalapeno & cilantro. Being the non cilantro fan I am I just removed that component. I did enjoy the sandwich overall but did feel it could have been executed better to make improve overall flavor. The veggies tasted more lightly pickled than I'm used to having, while the fresh jalapeno had pretty much no heat. I think if this two things were fixed the sandwich would have been that much better. Also, the tofu I don't think was seasoned at all, or maybe just lightly seasoned.
Fried Egg (added meatloaf) Banh Mi was alright but for being an "egg sandwich", it could have used more egg. I was thinking about a banh mi I had recently where I added egg & they used what was probably 2 extra large eggs. Alright banh mi, with same thoughts on the veggies
The bread for both banh mi was not so bad, but I've definitely had fresher.
Vietnamese Coffee was quite good. I was happy with the strength & didn't seem watery at all even for being a delivery order. Also they used crushed ice which always brightens my day.
No comments on service since this was an UberEATS delivery order. But everything was packed well.
If you need a decent Viet coffee & banh mi you can find them both here. & If you need a vegetarian option...
Read moreI recently stumbled upon this charming spot while passing by and couldn't resist trying their egg rolls after seeing them in the window. At just a dollar each, I was pleasantly surprised to discover they were the most delicious egg rolls I’ve ever tasted! I enjoyed them so much that I returned the next morning with a friend.
However, we found that the egg rolls were quite different this time. They weren’t bad, but they didn’t have the same delightful flavor as the previous day. I also tried a sandwich, which I didn't dislike, but I found the barbecue meat a bit too sweet for my taste. On the bright side, the baguette it was served on was hot and fresh!
One thing that caught me off guard was when I asked for sauce she looked at me kind of funny and said these are vitamise egg roll's 🤷 okayyy . I found it amusing, but it was a bit disappointing. On a positive note, Patricia, the staff member who assisted us, was very friendly and helpful, explaining some of the dishes to us.
Overall, I would rate the customer service a solid four out of five, despite the sauce hiccup. As for the food, I’d give the egg rolls a four and the sandwich a three. The atmosphere of the place was clean, calm, and inviting, which added to the overall experience.
Would I go back? Maybe to try those amazing egg rolls again, but I’m not sure if I’d make it a...
Read moreCome here quite frequently for their sandwiches and spring rolls. I enjoy their quick services and the employees are friendly. I usually order the #1 sandwich and the grilled Pork Spring Rolls. If the grilled pork rolls are not available on the counter top, I would order a fresh batch and it would usually take about 10 to 15 minutes. I've done this quite often and it's always been a satisfying experience.
Today, however, when I ordered the usual grill Pork Spring Rolls, I received something rather different. Unfortunately I didn't realized this until I had already driven far north on the 5 freeway.
My rolls looked like they used the sandwich's grilled pork instead of the Chinese sausage. I didn't know that they even made this kind of roll since it's never on display.
I guess I need to be more careful next time and check my orders...
