Absolutely, hands down love this place. I drive up from Indy just to get some Gene's. The food is unbelievable and the service is always, always fast and friendly.

My favorite at any drive-in is a chili cheese dog with onion and mustard. These are definitely the best anywhere. Not overloaded to where you're going to stain your shirt on the first bite, but not so little you're disappointed with your weiner. Just perfect. I love a good, regular hot dog and they're top notch at Gene's. And you can get just the hot dog, no bun for your canine co-pilot.

The root beer isn't bad either; I'll always compare any root beer to the magnificent butterscotch glory that was Edward's (RIP), but Gene's is still really good. I wish they hand battered their onion rings, but that's hard to find anymore.

I know I'm in the minority, but Mug 'n Bun sucks. Remember when you couldn't tip your server if you paid with a card? Yeah. The food quality went down and prices went up. I crossed it off my list even though it's like a mile away. Then Edward's closed. I was lost and devastated.

I found Gene's when I had to have surgery in Anderson for whatever reason. We have hospitals in Indy, but whatever. It was fate that the Spanish dog found me when I so desperately needed a drive-in to call home again. I actually just got back from opening day...more than worth the...

The root beer was good. If I find myself back in the area, I'd stop in again for that. The service was ok; nothing special, but not bad. The food was disappointing. The chicken nuggets were over cooked; which dried them out, and made them hard. The polish sausage was low quality and tasteless. The 2 orders of french fries were ridiculous. Neither container was anywhere near full, and one of the containers had noticeably less fries than the other. But the worst part was that both containers of fries were cold... not, "not hot", or "warm", but cold. The only reason they didn't get sent right back was that the order was to go, and I wasn't turning around to get fresh fries. I shouldn't have to! It's literally their job to serve hot fries; it's what they're being paid to do. We were busy and had other things to do that day; that's why we got the food "to go". I drove an hour out of my way to try this root beer stand based on reviews I had read......

Locally owned!!! I've loved this place for years since I was a kid, and that was ages ago! The 'Slaw Dog, horseradish' is the star of the show ✨️! Horseradish in Cole Slaw is a stroke of genius!! Couple it with coney sauce and onions/cheese and the result is Finer than Frog Fur!!! The Coney with cheese and onions is a masterpiece itself, they sell a mix to make the sauce at home. The corn dogs, although one of the simplest items available, is something that can only come from a drive-in or a County Fair.. the freezer version is no competition. The servers used to go around on roller skates. And while that is a nostalgic experience I have, it is not currently practiced. Currently the staff walk and are incredibly attentive and friendly... Mariah is a delight!!! She has been our host numerous times and is the most friendly, bubbly, positive person that we've encountered in far too long. This place is a must try if you're in the area or...

First of all, Audrey is FANTASTIC. If you get her, you'll love her. This was my husband's and my first time coming here based on the Indiana Culinary Passport. Local spot with house made root beer and tasty toppings for their hot dogs. It's so classic, a real-life example of what Sonic is trying to harken back to but can't really claim. You drive up and a car hop will bring your food and rest your meal on the window like old times. Prices are excellent, food is solid (really enjoyed the hot dogs; fried and onion rings were fine). Husband definitely recommends the slaw dog if you like spice (order the slaw on the side to control your spice levels). The root beer is smooth and flavorful. The ice cream was tasty also with a flavor twist of your choice added in! It was kind of random for us to come here but we're so glad we did. We highly recommend and I'll be back for sure!

Polish w/mustard and kraut, fried mushrooms, & small root beer, all cheap and delicious. They remove the stems from the shrooms and that improves them exponentially. I've driven by this place a million times while visiting clients outside of Indy, and I got tired of Taco Bell so I finally stopped by today and it was worth it. Good food, but my most memorable part of the visit was the server Mariah. She has a lovely, calm, welcoming demeanor, and she doesn't know it, but I was on the verge of hot ugly tears ALL DAY until my interaction with her. I'll be back not only for cheap, hot food, but because a good memory was created here by a great employee. Nice nails, girl!

I absolutely love Gene's rootbeer stand. I have been eating here since I was a kid. I actually got to work here all through high-school at a time when the Colts came for training camp. Gene still owned it and Jeanie ran it. It hasn't been the same since but I still find a way to get there at least once a year. I tried to buy some rootbeer in the cans but they were out at that time. Good thing I got a gallon to bring home because I know the 1/2 gallon would have not been enough
