How I wish the Dukes family would come back and take over their old business! My wife and I went in for our FINAL time a few days ago. It was approximately 2:30 - 3:00 on a weekday afternoon, absolutely NO customers inside and it took 15 to 20 minutes to get a pile of cold mush they claim to call pork and burned french fries that was absolutely sickening. It has been four days since eating there and we are literally still sick from the food. Aside from that, I have no idea who the older lady was working behind the counter but you have to be the absolute rudest, most miserable person in Anderson County and I hate more than anything that it was my wife that you showed your little attitude problem to instead of me or that my wife didn’t let me know how you talked to her until we had left the restaurant. I witnessed how the employees have become confrontational with customers in there twice before and I don’t have the words to describe how appalling it is to see that along with experiencing a number of issues I have encountered since Little Pigs fell under new ownership and to think back when Mr. Joe Dukes and family owned and ran that place for DECADES. As a life long resident of Anderson, Little Pigs was a place where memories were made, happy times were shared, and I can honestly say that I never had one single “bad” experience in the countless times I ate in there over a 40 - 45 year period. The individuals who now own Little Pigs are running that place into the ground with their poor quality of food and above all, sorry customer service. You can’t belittle your customers (as you did my wife) and expect them to come back. You can’t come around the counter, stand toe to toe with an 80 year old man (as I witnessed on one occasion) and get in a yelling match with him over an order and expect your customers not to notice. You have to be a bigger man and bite your tongue when it his money you’re depending on to keep your doors open. AND I would absolutely LOVE to know who the young lady was working in there one night and cussing worse than a sailor with families inside eating with this going on. I kept giving the new owners the benefit of the doubt but I’m done. Good luck with what you’ve got going on and I wish you the best but in my, as well as many others, opinion........ you’ve destroyed an Anderson institution. I, nor any of mine,...
Read moreI was in the Anderson area visiting family. Coming from the NE, I was really looking forward to some really good Authentic Southern BBQ food.
This place didn’t have BBQ. Maybe they make BBQ type foods such as Pulled Pork. My brother-in-law and I both got the Regular BBQ Sandwich Plater. At first glimpse of the plates….WOW, what a serving size that was. Had the food tasted good this would be a 5 star review.
The Pulled Pork was dry, has absolutely no flavor to it. At home I have cooked my Pulled Pork in a Crockpot and got better flavor with juicy moist meats. It was tough to eat this.
The Mac & Cheese was good. This was the only portion of the entire meal that had some flavor that I actually enjoyed.
Baked Beans, my brother-in-law “liked” them but I feel like he was trying to stay positive about it. I thought, yet again, that they were dried out. Almost like I was eating refried beans that belong in a taco.
Fries, they were…..plan old fries, absolutely zero seasoning or flavors added to them…very boring.
So that’s the food, the staff was extremely nice and the restaurant was clean. Would have preferred not to have the fly that kept trying to land on our food but that’s not the establishments fault. Did use the bathroom there, I couldn’t tell if it was a roach or a cricket smashed on the floor…ew!
Overall, very disappointed. Maybe it’s time to introduce Anderson to real BBQ since according to the article that left me with extremely high expectations about this Genuine Southern BBQ that’s been around since 1965, is worse thann the food that my 12 year old son can make in a microwave. The food was edible, but I will never go back. Still trying to figure out how a Genuine Southern BBQ joint cooks BBQ without the BBQ Grills! Anderson residents, there is better BBQ, I promise. Little Pigs BBQ, I hope you take my review to heart, I really feel you should be ashamed to even have BBQ in your name. And what BBQ place doesn’t sell Brisket! Very disappointed! I may have to stay in the area one more day to hopefully get to try someplace with food that taste outstanding. As a previous reviewer said, if this is what residents of Anderson call BBQ, clearly they...
Read moreThere were so many things wrong with this experience. Let’s start at the counter, the server did not seem like she wanted to be there. Please smile when guests come into your establishment. They only do brisket seasonal I guess? So I went with the pulled pork platter and added one hot dog. These portions were HUGE and that is not always a good thing. The quality of this food was so under sub par. Everything was overcooked and had no flavor. Pulled pork was dang near turning into mush when you went to eat it. The corn that’s wrapped in that foil, tasted like boiled corn water. It’s like it just sits in a hot water bath and gets pulled to order which is not how you should serve corn on the cob. Mac n cheese, also mushy and no salt. The only thing that was edible was the hotdog, and for a bbq place I think that’s quite sad. Also the bbq sauce was probably the only tasty or flavorful thing there. I legit didn’t eat my food and tossed it because at this point I value Quality over Quantity of food. I don’t plan on returning and I feel like it was a huge disappointment for a long standing local bbq place. Perhaps the people in the area enjoy it because they don’t have tastebuds and enjoy bland food because you get a lot of it. Sorry, Do...
