The visit seemed to start off well. They have a decent beer list and some other wine and non-alcoholic options for folks who aren't into hops. The atmosphere is pretty cool. Nice pictures and furnishings, and the radio station was rocking some great throwback jams. That's about the only things that went right. They were out of the wine I wanted and ran out of the stout that my husband was drinking after only one glass. The server was obviously inexperienced and not informed on the menu or drinks. It took nearly 10 minutes for him to greet us and his normal checkin time was 15+ minutes. The other servers and hosts were far more concerned with chatting with the bartender and the table of their friends behind us. We placed our food order at 6:40. We emptied our drinks and sat there... and sat there... and sat there. The restaurant was never packed- there were plenty of empty tables. Around 7:20 the server told us "2 more minutes". About 20 minutes after that he said the same thing, claiming that the kitchen was slammed. Around 8:00, he brought 2 of the burgers to the table (there were 5 of us) and told me that the kitchen just informed him they were out of the fried chicken for my sandwich. I suspect he forgot to put our order in (understandable- it happens, but own up to it) or he would have known there was no chicken almost an hour earlier. He offered to bring me another burger. The other 2 plates came out, and my burger magically got cooked in about 7 minutes. The bread was still damp and cold from the fridge and the patty was burned and obviously reheated. Also, they were out of fries, so I had a couple (lackluster and room temp) onion rings. I bussed all the glasses off our table to the bar in attempt to get service to no avail. I didn't even try ordering more than my first glass of wine because I figured it would take 20 minutes for them to tell me they didn't have it. After being in the service industry for over a decade, I've never turned back food before tonight. After splitting a plate with my sister we sat... and sat... and finally, I cleared all of our dishes to the bar and asked for a check. They may have known I was getting a bit upset at this point. The cook came out and apologized, the server stood there grinning, and the bartender brought over our ticket with a 20% discount- but it still showed the burger I sent back untouched. If you want good alcohol, fresh burgers and fun, go to Lowe's and buy the ingredients fresh and grill at the house. You'll be much better off and it will cost a fraction of what you'd spend at...
Read moreWeâre from Taos, and drove to Angel Fire specifically to go here, as weâre big craft beer fans. We were told to choose a seat, and picked a table and got a high chair for our year and a half old baby. We got settled and about two minutes later, the server abruptly told us to get up and move. They actually opened up a section of the dining room that was closed and put us in the corner away from everyone else. We has to gather all our things and it was a hassle and embarrassing. I asked why we had to move and he said we got some âlooksâ because of the baby. Minutes after we moved, another family with babies came in and they were seated right next to us, crowded about 12 inches from our table. My chair back was almost brushing up against the womanâs chair.
Definitely got the attitude that we werenât welcome. Too bad, and the beer is below average as well.
PS: donât order the tiny, $8 pretzel. So small and sad!
Response to business response:
Not true that our child was upset. Thatâs ridiculous. You seated us, and we were all settled at the table. Our little girl was coloring. Then a few minutes later you asked us to move into a small side room away from everyone. It was embarrassing and rude to us. Iâm a huge beer fan, and weâre from Taos. You could have had a repeat customer. Now we wonât be back and weâve told many people about...
Read morei left the review at the end of this on our first visit. We stopped back three days later. There was no service, zero. People were coming up to the bar and asking if the server had forgotten them. The man sitting next to me got his attention, asked for the beer he wanted, then asked if they had food to go. The server said yes, handed him a menu, and walked away!!! He ignored my wife and I completely. I figured weâd be patient for a bit longer, but got pretty upset when he finally came back to the bar and started waiting on the lady on my wifeâs left who had just walked up! So I called him on it, saying he left the guy on my right hanging, ignored us, then started waiting on this other lady (she promptly apologized). Instead of getting busy and getting people served, he stood there and made excuses, oh poor me, weâre so busy, itâs my first week, blah, blah, blah. I was already heading for the door. If you want to work, work. If you donât, at least try hard. The service our first visit was bad. This was plain awful. Iâll never go back, and advise you not to if you want to be treated like a customer instead of an empty bar stool. Ridiculous.
First review. The beer was pretty decent. The food was only so so. But the place was infested with flies....
