Worst Mexican restaurant in town. I have eaten here multiple times since they opened, always giving them another shot to get it right over the years (because the location is close to my house). Don Juan never meets even the most basic of expectations. Yesterday I had a terrible experience.

The restaurant was not busy, but our wait time for food was quite long. It was about 4 o'clock, not during any peak meal times. Half of our party received their food 10 minutes before the rest.

Fajitas did not include the usual vegetables, but instead included zucchini and mushrooms to our surprise. We were told by the wait staff that those are the usual ingredients for fajitas, even though we disagreed and stated that they have never been served like this. Asked for pork fajitas but was served one containing shrimp, chicken and steak only (no pork at all). Staff "corrected" this mistake by bringing plain cooked pork to the table on a separate plate (not by remaking or bringing a new dish).

Tacos al Pastor were practically inedible due to the extremely tough and overcooked pork, resulting in an extremely dry and hard to eat taco. Rice was premade and recooked and recooked and recooked.

The regular hard shell tacos were sloppy and cold but were at least edible. Food seems to be premade or frozen. The drinks were so weak that I am sure they forgot the alcohol. The large guacamole was mostly just pieces of tomatoes; it seemed like chunky salsa with a little bit of avocado. The tortilla chips were the ONLY good thing about the meal.

I am not interested in a reply to my review from the owner stating his "surprise" at our experience. This is what I expect from Don Juan's and I will not be returning. I would like to mention that I frequent Los Amigos (same owner, menu, everything) and they have none of these problems that Don Juan's does. Why is the Los Amigos experience consistently worlds apart...

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Michigan. I eat here with my family all the time, my favorite order are the taquitos which are so delicious, and a horchata for a drink. Creamy, sweet, cold, and filling. Of course they have a very VERY large and unique menu, there is something for everyone even kids or people with less eclectic taste. I recently started getting doordash because my dad had eye surgery and can’t go out to eat much anymore. I noticed drinks weren’t on the doordash menu (which I didn’t even consider an issue). I called the restaurant hoping to pay and include a horchata for my DD order. A very well spoken gentleman answered the phone and immediately apologized for not having it on the doordash menu (which I totally didn’t see as a problem), he then thanked me for ordering with them through doordash and included a FREE horchata with my order. I not once even said I was going to pay, he insisted! I got everything correct in my order, hot and fresh. The drink was delicious and cold too. It was all just as delicious as it was in the restaurant and my dad was ecstatic with his as well. All in all I just want to say thank you to Don Juan for the outstanding customer service and meal preparation. It’s been rough lately and just small things like this make a big difference for people. Keep it up! We will be eating here for a very long time and I suggest it highly to anyone...

Got a buy one entree, get one free coupon in the mail and decided to try the place. Had to tell the staff what the coupon meant, and had to ask for a new bill at the end.

Other dinee asked for an ingredient that came in the entree on the side instead, and got charged for that ingredient as a side. This side charge did not get included as the free entree.

We ordered two margaritas, one house and one special, and neither of us could taste any alcohol in either one. We asked the staff if there was any, and was assured there was, but after tasting none and feeling the same after “3 shots in each”, we highly doubt it.

Food was good enough with good portion sizes. Nice interior with a good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Was looking for a good, genuine Mexican restaurant in AA, but unfortunately this left...

Mixed bag of good and not so good. The traditional margarita was OK but it's got nothing on El Azteco in Lansing. I had a beef enchilada and it basically had no flavor. However the side of refried beans were very good with a side if chips. The tamales were very tasty but I had a bite of a chicken taco and almost couldn't get it down. The chicken was super dry and chewy. Someone at our table got the veggie Chimichanga and he gave up on it after 3 or 4 bites. When our family goes out for dinner it's considered a splurge and something special. Dropping over $100 for below average Mexican food as our food splurge was very disturbing. I think the issue is their menu is way to big. 7 full pages of options. They need to scale it back and hone in on perfecting less offering IMOP. 2 ⭐ only for the service

Lunch started out very well here with crispy and tasty chips with what seemed like homemade salsa--very fresh tasting. I ordered fajitas tilapia which came with more fish than I could eat and the fish was very tender and well seasoned. It was as good as I'd expect in a restaurant the served mainly fish dishes. The beans and rice that came with it were very tasty and the vegetables were fresh. If you don't want any dairy on the fajitas they will gladly serve it that way. Both the corn and flour tortillas (you can get either or both) were fresh and very good. Service was prompt and attentive. We were that at a very slow time so I can't say what it's like when its busy. I would definitely go back.

Coctel de Camarones is amazing Caldo de pollo is amazing Refried beans are amazing Enchiladas are delicious Did I mention the service is amazing? So their sign is covered by a tree but it is there!!!
