I work at a major hotel in Ann Arbor and a co-worker of mine decided to order here for the first time. They have delivered here a handful of times before and she placed an order and paid. They gave her a window of 40-45 mins for her order delivery. Well, an hour and 20 mins later no one had bothered contacting her to update their whereabouts so she called and they did not know what happened and said that they would get to the bottom of it. So, another 20 mins went by and she called again and this is where they decided to lie to cover their a**es by stating that they contacted the driver and said the driver told them that she had been trying to meet with my co-worker. We have MULTIPLE security cameras and we work at the front by the main doors--NO ONE CAME IN BESIDES GUESTS. We even went outside to check ourselves.
So, once again she calls back to let them know where our hotel was and made sure the driver had the correct address (just trying to help out because there are other hotels here, and we would understand a mix-up). They still had no further information for her. And on another call, they simply hung up on her.
It was at the TWO HOUR mark that she decided to just cancel and get a refund. She noticed that she had JUST missed a total of 3 calls within ONE MINUTE OR LESS OF EACH OTHER--- RIGHT BEFORE THE TWO HOUR MARK, and that's when she called them back to cancel her order. She called to let them know and they decided to blame her saying that their driver tried calling many times and they have record of it and that the driver had waited a long time--they mentioned IN HER CAR, nonetheless... Why are you waiting in your car when you are making a delivery?? And why are you FINALLY CALLING FOR THE FIRST TIME RIGHT BEFORE THE TWO HOUR MARK?? The driver was trying to cover her ass so she called 3 times in a row to make it seem like she actually tried contacting my co-worker. Um, we have a phone log and cameras...THE DRIVER NEVER CAME HERE AND DID NOT TRY CONTACT UNTIL THE VERY END!! how can you as management and staff blatantly lie??!
My co-worker mentioned how upset and tired she was, and they had the audacity to say that they are tired too because they "called her so many times." I have never seen such disgusting, unprofessional behavior! On top of all of this, during the last call, the manager stated that they normally do not deliver out this way, but were just trying to really get her order to her.. My co-worker also called the driver and the girl mentioned how she was at the shop about to go home and is trying to do another delivery. Ok...so you mean to tell us that you literally took my co-worker's money fully knowing it was for delivery, had her wait 2 hours to get an order she never received and then blame her for this whole fiasco? And apparently don't deliver here?? Such lies! I've worked here for years and they DO deliver here. We recommended them to guests as well. With this awful excuse for service and uncalled for behavior from this staff and management, we tossed all of their information.
WE HAVE THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS AND MENU WITH INFORMATION THAT THEY DELIVER. My co-worker informed him of this and the fact that we will toss all of their ads and menus then (if what he says is true). Read moreTheir food is delicious. However, their sucky customer service disgusts me. I work at a busy hospital, and I have a 30 minute lunch. I usually order about an hour and a half in advance of when I go to lunch. The first two times I ordered from them, they were about 15 minutes late, that's half my lunch. I was upset. Today, I ordered from them for the last time. Not only did they give our food (a few coworkers ordered with me) away to someone else, they blamed us for their mistake, and refused to take personal responsibility for their actions. The delivery driver lied and said that I had gotten my food, when she gave it to the wrong person. They offered no form of recourse, other than remaking our food and bringing it back. When they did, they got our order wrong. I ordered the Quesadilla special, and I only received the Quesadilla. I ordered two supreme fish tacos on flour tortillas with hot sauce. They sent Verde sauce, and put them on corn tortillas. When I called about the order mess up, I was threatened with a camera (whatever that means). Read moreThe food is always fresh and delicious. The portions are generous and everything is super affordable. The staff is always friendly even when it is super busy or they are understaffed. This has been my go to late night taco spot for quite a few years now.
If you eat in, all the condiments are free for you to slather your food in until your hearts content. I truly appreciate this simple accommodation.
This place does get super busy, at different periods throughout the day and night so sometimes it does take more than your average amount of time to get your food. The wait, however long it ends up being is always worth it.
If you are planning on eating in, just remember that it gets busy and the eating area isn't huge so tables fill up fast and there isn't always a place to sit. Takeout is also another reliable option that won't result in you searching for a place to stuff your face. They also offer delivery, which I have used on several occasions, it is fast, and super convenient.
BONUS: Taco King is located within a Mexican Grocery store. So you can browse around while you wait, or even kill two birds with one stone and get some of your grocery shopping...
