The short answer is YES! Get the pizza! If you want the full story, read on!; I went to college at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) in Ypsilanti. The world was my oyster and back then, I was its pearl. College days were good to me. Not because of the sororities, or the friends I made, or because I was at the top of my game physically. Not because my outlook was bright or because of my grades. All those things were awesome but they’re not what I think about when I think of college. So what is it that could possibly be better than any of those things? It was the Pizza! Now if you’re familiar with Ypsilanti, you’ll know that the“Dominos” first set up shop there. Dominos was always my go-to until one day I happen upon a little sign in an ally that said “Faz Pizza”. I decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. The crust was perfect, the sauce, seasoned just right and the toppings were fresh. The cheese was baked to a perfectly oooie-gooie bubbly golden brown perfection that made your mouth water just thinking of it. On top of all that and the most remarkable thing about these pizzas is back then, they were only $3! THREE DOLLARS! It was nothing short of a dream come true for a hungry and broke college student. I became a regular and often was greeted by Faz himself. His smile was undeniably sincere and his laughter was infectious. I’d order a pizza and bring it back to my dorm room. I never told anyone where this pizza came from. All they knew is when I opened that beautiful, unmarked, cardboard box, the sky would part and the angels would sing. Eventually, I’d bring them their own pizza but would charge them $10 instead of the $3 I was paying. This lead to my first sales job as a “pizza Broker” as I called myself, or “pizza Pimp” as others occasionally did. Faz and I eventually went into business together. I’d buy several pizzas at a time from him and sell them whole or by the slice for a substantial profit. Faz was never aware of this or that he had a silent business partner but truthfully if he knew, I’m sure he would have been proud! Ypsilanti wasn’t far from where I grew up but for whatever reason, I would only get Faz’s pizza during the school season. It just went together. “peas and carrots”, “Fish and chips”, “college and Faz”. This went on for several semesters and even years. Then one year, I came back to school from summer break only to find a tragic sight. There was an empty building and a “for sale” sign where my beloved pizza hideaway once stood. Not only did this mean my Petty cash fund would take a huge hit this year but with no Faz pizza, school was hardly even worthwhile! I looked all around. I asked, and no one knew. I finished out the school year, one class at a time, dreaming of those amazing pizzas. Eventually, Faz pizza became a memory. I spoke of it often when anyone mentioned pizza. I’d say “back in the day when I was in college, there was this pizza place …” and sometimes even just the memories flooded my tastebuds. It’s been roughly 40 years since I had one of those culinary masterpieces and then a miracle happened.. could it be true? I was giving a friend a ride to a mechanic. He told me to “turn here” and pointed left. I turned, and at that moment, time stood still! I couldn’t make sense of anything my friend was telling me and felt like I was in some sort of suspended animation. All I could focus on was a busy little corner pizza place with a simple sign above it that said “hello Faz Pizza” ! Was it even possible? After all these years? I went in to do a little investigating myself. I was greeted by Faz’s son and wife. Sadly Faz passed away or I’m sure he’d have been there too. Faz may be gone but his spirit lives on. I wasted no time in ordering a pizza and in 8 minutes flat, I was back there, .. 40 + years ago, that little 19 yr old coed who had the world on a string and played with it like a yo-yo! The memories came flooding back with each hot, juicy bite. Thank you Faz, and thank you Universe for reuniting us!

Hello Faz Pizza: Hidden Gem Alert! So, picture this: we roll into town for an appointment and get hit with some serious hunger pangs. The hotel? Nada. No restaurant guides, no nothing. So, we turn to Google for “pizza near me” and—BAM!—Hello Faz Pizza pops up. At first, I was a little “hmm” about trying something new (hello, creature of habit here), but their website? Totally sold me! They’re rocking everything from halal pizza to gyro pizza—yes, really! You can just *feel* the love they put into their creations. Ordered a medium 5 topping pizza online (easy peasy!) which consisted of beef pepperoni, ground beef, green peppers, onions, and green olives, and it was only a short drive down to this little spot in a strip mall. It’s not about the frills here, people—it’s all about the flavor! Walked into a cozy, no-fuss place, and the older short gentleman behind the counter was amazing. Super kind, hooked me up with plates and napkins, and made me feel right at home. And the pizza? Oh. My. Goodness. I’m usually a two-slice kinda person, but I couldn’t stop. Ended up going back for four slices because it was just that amazing. If you’re ever in town, run to Hello Faz Pizza! Below is our delish pizza and me super happy about how amazing it was! :)

I was in town for work and decided to grab a pizza on the way out. I got black olive and pepperoni. I am a pizza connoisseur, and this was honestly probably the best pizza I have ever had. The flavor was top-notch, the ingredients were high-quality, it was the perfect amount of sauce, cheese, toppings... just everything was excellent. We live about an hour away and are already planning a trip back to Ann Arbor so we can get this pizza. I will be recommending Hello Faz Pizza to everyone I know! Update 5/25/25: we did a family Staycation in Ann Arbor For Memorial Day. Our first stop was Hello Faz pizza! We took it to the hotel and my 4 and 6 year-old absolutely loved it! I just wish this place was closer to home in the Lansing area. Adding pictures this time! Thank you for all the deliciousness! We’ll be back!!

We ordered two pizzas and one was supposed to be light on the cheese , added pickles , tomatoes and olives..

Picked up and once home we found that pizza had about a full inch of cheese and no pickles , ( on the special instructions it even promted us about the pickles so... I called and a woman answered who was very obviously distracted and not very polite. I told her that our order was not fulfilled properly and she replied with arguing and saying the pizza was NOT extra cheese , and they usually put an extra cup of it for it and just did not this time , I mentioned that it was to be LIGHT Cheese and she proceeded to argue about it, then said “i don’t know where you got any idea we have pickles “ I said it was on their google search when it shows their listing and online ordering “eat24hrs.com promoting pickles under special instructions . I asked if it would be possible to have a redo or refund to which she continued to over explain her being correct... I hung up saying it was not worth an argument and I won’t be returning... All in all really terrible customer service. Waist of money....
