It's a small place, full of regulars. However, unlike most bars like that, though, you won't feel ignored if you're new. This was my first real visit, and the bartender, Rachel, and the other guests made me feel very welcomed. I received so many friendly random nods and hellos from the other patrons.
The food was surprisingly good, and the menu was more diverse and interesting than I expected (think mahi-mahi dishes, agave sauces, and Irish-inspired recipes right next to traditional pub food). If you want a burger and wings. Go here. If you want to try something you've never had. Go here.
You definitely can't beat the prices: My tab was less than $25 for two tap beers (2-4-1s are the regular deal) a shot, a Coke, and a delicious meal that I brought half of home as leftovers.
The regulars are really entertaining. And, as I mentioned, everyone is surprisingly friendly. This bar has a bit of a Cheers vibe to it; which was very fun to watch.
The live music was fantastic, though a bit loud for conversation. But hey, it was really good music, so I can't complain.
I highly recommend you give MaGillyCuddy's a try. Like other reviewers mentioned, it's not a quiet family diner, but it's also not a raucous or unruly place. If you're going out with a few friends and want to have a fun time with good people, this is a good choice.
Great food. Good music. Awesome prices. Really fun people (there was live music and even a dancing juggler).

Read moreWe found this restaurant while searching local restaurants to try and it did not disappoint. This is a small little bar/restaurant in Anoka. The decor is fun and you know it’s going to be fun place when they have the lamp from A Christmas Story behind the bar. We were greeted immediately after choosing a table. We started out with Reuben rolls. These were fried to perfection with a great Reuben flavor with 1000 island dipping sauce. Great crunch and great flavor. We also tried Irish nachos. These are house made chips topped with cheese sauce, corn beef, bacon and diced tomatoes. These house made chips were amazing, fried to perfection so that the sauce didn’t make them soggy. That cheese sauce has so much flavor! We shared the Guinness Cheese Burger. This is an open faced burger on a sourdough bread topped with perfectly cooked fries topped with the most amazing Macgillycuddy cheese sauce. That cheese sauce is the show stopper. And of course we tried the fish and chips. Nice portion of fish with an amazing coating and crunch. Tartar sauce was good, just a normal tartar sauce. The fries that come with the meal are delicious with a good crunch. Not a plain fry. Overall great experience and an added must go back restaurant...
Read moreWe ate there twice. Like a lot of the reviews, the food here is great! I recommend the Mahi Mahi Rubien! Service was very good also. But the place is small, so the tables and booths are right near the bar. The clientele that appear to frequent the place are loud and obnoxious with no consideration for the people seated trying to enjoy their meal. People were literally half in the bag and screaming at the top of their lungs! We sat right next to each other and had to scream to even make out what the other was saying. We couldn't eat fast enough to get the hell out of there! This is NOT family dining, and don't bring kids in there! Maybe if we knew that tables were open downstairs it would have been better. We may try going earlier (around 4:30pm) to beat the crowd.Or we may just stay...
