Relish Wine Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Ansonia

Food is good. However, I was just there and one of the employees/owners overheard me telling my party that I didn't recommend one of the appetizers; however I made recommendations about multiple others. A while later when I went to the bathroom, this person behind the bar calls me over, points his finger at me and tells me that I have no right to give my opinion if it's unfavorable to anybody, still pointing his finger at me he tells me that I should talk to him about it first. He was agitated and so unprofessional and rude. It didn't matter to him all the business that I have brought over to this place during the pandemic or that I was making recommendations about other appetizers or that I thought the menu is good enough that I keep bringing my firends and family who had never been there before. At the end the night, a little after 9 pm he yelled "Hey, you gotta go! Closing time!". What a way to talk to a party of 4 who just spend $460 in a dinner for 4. Went to dinner at Relish in Ansonia. Extremely poor customer service, and when I complained about the potatoes and asparagus being charcoaled burnt, and the small little lobster tail was missing meat and looked inedible. The owner took the lobster tail away and gave us the check. The lobster tail was cut in half and the size of a crawdad with the white boiled gel for the meat. I did not realize he automatically added a 20% tip and did not bring that to my attention. I did not notice it as we were so appauled by the treatment we received. I was embarrassed to bring my friend to a restaurant I thought would be a good meal. The bill was $122.00 not including the tip so I don't think we ordered a "cheap" meal but received very subpar food!!!!! He didnt even try to make it better. Gotta tell you, place is spot on. I’ve now been there 3 times. Twice with my wife and mother for a casual Sunday meal. Each time the food was nothing short of spectacular, honestly. Order from the menu or the weekly specials. Have not been disappointed. Went back with the whole family, Saturday afternoon. Just as good.

Service is attentive with the owner present each time.

What I would comment on is the seating availability. Sunday afternoon no problem getting a table for 3 (my mom has hip issues). On Saturday evening it’s a little busier and the tables were not available for our larger party. Plenty of High tops but difficult for my mom to get in/out. Certainly won’t detract us from coming back.
