So first off, let me say, we love Culvers. The food is very good. 5 Stars, and the food here at this location, is also very good.....when its prepared how it is ordered. That being said, the reason I am only giving this location 3 stars (i wanted to give 2.5) is because its closing shift employees seem to have severe trouble following directions, 3 visits in a row now. Last night being the worst, we arrived at the drive thru where my 3 year old daughter (who loves burgers now because of Culvers actually) was patiently waiting in the back seat, excited for a good burger. I ordered a Culvers Deluxe Double Cheeseburger meal, everything on it, and a Kids Meal Cheeseburger with ketchup and pickles. We waited in excess of 10 minutes after paying (each time wad 10-15 minutes) for the food to arrive, which doesn't bother me really as long as the order is right. So we get our food, check everything is in the bag and off we go. I get onto the highway and open my burger, it's a single, not a double, and has no condiments and no cheese, both of which I was charged for. My daughter opens her burger, and was so disappointed in it that she tossed it on the floor of my truck and almost cried. Just a plain burger, with lettuce. Nothing else. She ate French fries for dinner and fell asleep upset in the car that her burger wasn't good. I will continue going to Culvers, but I will probably stay away from this location, at least at night, since the last 3 times I have gone I have paid for food and not gotten...
Read moreAh, Culver’s. The Wisconsin-born beacon of butterburgers and dairy dreams. I swung by the drive through, hoping for a quick, greasy embrace from Midwestern comfort food. What I got instead was an experience that can best be described as fast food theater, minus the entertainment and with the dramatic tension of waiting in a hot car.
To their credit, the person taking my order was kind and helpful. But the system? A bureaucratic masterpiece. Instead of a good old fashioned menu, there was a pre-order station apparently designed to revolutionize efficiency. Except it didn’t. Why? Because the sedan in front of me ordered enough food to satisfy a thousand-pound individual. I sat motionless while my already-submitted order aged like a bottle of two percent milk left in the sun.
Many minutes later, my grand reward for patience: lukewarm cheese curds that squeaked with the same enthusiasm I had left, a warmish burger whose only seasoning seemed to be regret, and a frozen custard that had abandoned its frozen dreams somewhere around minute three.
Culver’s clearly has potential. Their food has charm when it’s fresh, and the staff seem to genuinely care. But if you’re going to throw efficiency buzzwords around, you should probably make sure your custard doesn’t liquefy into a sad dairy puddle before it reaches the customer. Take notes from In-N-Out and Chick fil A. They’ve figured out how to run a drive through like a well oiled machine. Culver’s? More like a butter slathered tricycle stuck in...
Read moreHave been there twice since they opened. Had never been to one before, but received some coupons and thought it was worth a shot. Food on both visits was great. The staff were friendly, the ordering process was straightforward, and the staff had our food out to us very quickly. The food was hot and fresh and this is the first place I've been to in quite some time where I didn't have to add salt to the fries as they came out perfectly seasoned. The breading on the chicken tenders is different from other area restaurants but was quite good and didn't result in tenders where you're getting more breading than chicken. One thing in particular that I appreciated was the ability to get a meal with 2 tenders instead of 3 or 4 as at other restaurants. I'm never able to eat the full meal at other places, but this offered me the perfect size for my appetite. Culver's is known for their frozen custard and here they didn't disappoint. Their concretes are made with either vanilla or chocolate and the add-ins of your choice. I've sampled both and highly recommend them if you're looking for your ice cream fix. Overall, an excellent new fast casual...
